99ers Call to Action January 13th 2011 - Target : Rep Sheila Jackson Lee

This is a 99ers call to action for January 13th 2011. The target is Rep Sheila Jackson Lee and the reason is her remarks in the video below, in which she announces her intention to tie help for the 99ers to some appropriations bill that will be debated in March of this year.

HELLO Congresswoman - EXCUSE ME but the 99ers have already been out of benefits since LAST February/March. Exactly how long do you think we can hold on? Please tell the millions of suffering Americans in the 99er Nation WHY their hunger, homelessness and deaths are not as big a priority as those lives tragically taken last weekend in Tucson, AZ! I noticed immediately upon the return of Congress the House is engrossed in resolutions and speeches that do little more than offer you and your colleagues comfort and sound bites for the cable news coverage.

Why not honor your colleague Rep. Gabrielle Giffords by actually doing something that would immediately save American lives? Why doesn’t Congress stop stalling and griping about how the GOP will make it hard to get any help for the 99ers and start doing something NOW instead of the endless excuses, rhetoric and pontification?

We need every member of the 99er Nation (NOT just residents of the 18th district in TX) to contact her offices or her Chief of Staff: Yohannes Psehai in droves!!!!

http://www.jacksonlee.house.gov/Contact/ use the zip code 77002 when emailing her via her website.

Call her now, call her often and keep calling, faxing and emailing her until she gets the message.

I agree that we can't wait, but I also feel it's very important not to alienate the few people we have left even mentioning us/speaking out for us. Be careful what you say, be respectful. Jackson-Lee and the rest of the CBC are our ONLY allies in Congress at the moment, and while it needs a much bigger sense of urgency, these people also deserve our respect in return for their efforts.

I cannot believe that anyone can sink so low right now to put the word "Target" in the same sentence as the name of a member of Congress. It shows absolutely no class and in my opinion, the writer is just as unstable as the person who committed this horrible act of violence on Saturday. Also, to write such trash and then expect a donation via PayPal after? Wow! Unbelievable!

Just want to say a sincere thank you to Rep. Jasckson Lee for speaking on behalf of the 99ers after an emotional day on Capitol Hill. I, for one, am grateful for the work she and the rest of the CBC are doing for the unemployed.

I'll add my KUDOS and THANKS to Ms. Jackson-Lee for making sure this issue is not swept to the back burner.
SHAME ON YOU PALADINNETTE for attacking one of our best friends in Congress!
IF you had really listened to the video you would have heard her mention that there are several ideas - hers and others - re: legislation to help the exhaustees/99ers and by no means said we are WAITING TILL March. She is obviously, like the rest of Congress still a little shook up over the recent shooting of her colleague.
AND you want to use the word "target" in this context? You think it's okay - just exercising free speech? You're gonna stoop to the level of Palin?
I think you must be the most callous person in the world to think that it is acceptable ethically to speak that way about a Congressperson at a time like this.
HOW WOULD you feel if YOU were on someone's political TARGET list Donalee?
THANK YOU JACKSON-LEE and to all the Congressional Black Caucus for NOT throwing us under the bus, and continuing to try to help the 99ers/exhaustees!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to think, "Don't alienate those who are trying to help us." - and such. But that was months ago. Now I realize that when it comes to a Tier Five or helping the 99ers, the politicians just talk the talk, but rarely walk the walk. They will say anything, but rarely follow through. It's easy for some people to say, "Don't make those people mad at us, they are only trying to help us." I've been hearing their BS for months now, and now I have given up on them. When I only try, but fail, they I've failed...just as congress has been doing for months now...failing to help the 99ers. How long must people wait? Next week, next month, next March, next year, the next Millennium? All I've been doing since May of last year was WAIT-WAIT-WAIT! Wait for what? Wait to be evicted? Wait to lose my car? Wait to die? When you've been without any income for several months, and you have already spent your last dime (your whole life's savings), when the car is gone and you're evicted, will you still believe the politicians? Will you still hold out hope? Will you still be so patient and understanding? When will YOU get angry? When someone you know and love has put a gun in their mouth? Let's not forget who put us here in the first place...it was congress failing to do their jobs. Allowing jobs to be outsourced, and failing to watch the banks. Corruption and ineptness in our government is killing people. And you want to play nice? See where the hell that gets you...nowhere. YOU be patient and nice. I'm done being reasonable.

Just curious, where do the donations go? What are they used for? I would like to suggest that perhaps some of these funds be used to advertise our situation in a major newspaper. Any thoughts? I can not think of a better way to share our stories with the rest of America.

  8. To those folks who didn’t like my use of the word TARGET! Get a fricken life! Websters has many definitions for the word target - Hell it even is the name of a chain of stores but did any of you think I was talking about going shopping???

LEST there be ANY DOUBT: For those who just had to go there - I offer you this from Webster Himself: TARGET an objective or result toward which efforts are directed -- PERIOD end of sentence and to those just way too sensitive on this subject I say : I am not on board with the notion that I have to watch every single word I use. I said nothing WRONG in this article. If we have to restrict innocent word usage just because some nut case shot somebody then these violent jerk offs win. I refuse to be intimidated or alter my natural way of being or writing just because of what happened in AZ. After all I am NOT nor have I ever been like those tea bagger nuts who go around touting 2nd amendment solutions or saying LOCK n LOAD! Cut me a break!
