Chicago Police Beat Blacks On Election Night - The Untold Story

While people around the country were peacefully celebrating now President-Elect Barack Obama's victory, there were  groups of African Americans that were not able to do so without attack, and all of this happened right in the backyard of President-Elect Obama: Chicago.

Here's one video explaining the events that led to a class-action lawsuit:

In this video below, it's claimed that five White police officers on Chicago's West Side broke into her home and brandished a gun then cursed at her. According to reports, the officers were off-duty and yet went over in unmarked cars to terrorize these Chicagoans. This is the second of three lawsuits  filed and not for the same neighborhood, but for another incident in Chicago:

Something must be done about this and ASAP. President-Elect Obama's selection has sparked a rise in U.S. Hate Crimes , and it's particularly unacceptable for police officers to be involved. The Chicago Police should fire these men without pay.

Pro-Israel Activist and Friend Dan Kilman Will Be Missed On Oakland's Grand Avenue And In The Bay Area

If you remember a year ago in November, I went out with my video camera and talked to two groups: SF Women in Black and SF Voice for Israel. If you shop at the Oakland Farmers Market, you remember a man carrying a large Israeli flag in front of the Grand Lake Theater. That man was Dan Kilman.

This is that video series:

Part One:

Part Two

Well, the person in the video with the beard is one I came to call a friend; this a key part of Oakland culture, died recently. He supposedly died from falling down an elevator shaft after trying to climb out of a car stuck between floors. According to the website for "SF Voice for Israel" and where Dan was an active member, Kilman was found dead on December 1st at the bottom of an elevator shaft in a building located at 55 New Montgomery Street in San
Francisco called the Sharon Building.

But some think fowl-play in the form of a hate crime had been committed. Red County reports that Kilman had been assaulted by anti-Israel activists before.

Some have made an issue of the fact that Dan was Gay and that perhaps his orientation played a role in his death. I don't think so.  When I met Dan to do the video above, he didn't reveal that he was Gay at all, in fact he was with a woman and a small boy he seemed to tend to with great care, so I assumed he and she were married -- they certainly acted that way -- and I didn't think twice about it (but then I don't know what to look for in those matters anyway).  I later asked Dan about that and he said she was a friend.  The point is Dan didn't wear his sexual orientation on his sleave, that was reserved for his pro-Israel stance.

The investigations under way center on the strong chance Dan's death was a hate crime, a case of antisemitism.  More on this later.

There's a memorial planned for Dan at this adress:

Hate Crime Against Obama Supporter In Torrance, CA

Well, for all of the good feeling you now have some crazies coming out and making themselves known. I saw this on the Obama listserv called "Loa Angeles For Obama":

Hi Everyone,

I'm beyond upset to report that my neighbor who has been an active Obama supporter just had her house vandalized. She had put a "Yes, we did!" sign on her house and some assholes came and spray painted her car with swastikas and "88" which is a symbol of neo-nazi groups apparently.

We live in Torrance and which is a fairly conservative, but racially mixed area, but hate crimes are not something that usually rear their ugly heads here. The perpetrators are clearly idiots as well because my neighbor is white.

I feel especially bad because she had expressed some fear in putting up the sign in the first place and I told her not to be scared because I'd only gotten positive feedback from people this whole time I've been expressing my support for Obama. In any case I want to organize some way for Obama supporters to send her our support but I'm not sure what the protocol should be. I'd appreciate any guidance in the matter.

Iowa Obama Supporter Victim Of Hate Crime But Police Say It's Not A Hate Crime? WTF?

You've got to read this; it will make your blood boil! How in heck can this not be a hate crime?

Local Obama supporter victim of vandalism, theft

For most, the backlash for supporting one presidential candidate over another is usually nothing more than a random, unappreciative comment — if that.

But one Marshalltown family woke up on Christmas Eve having to deal with much more than baking pies and wrapping a few additional presents.

Supporters of Barack Obama living on 25th Street reported a number of racial slurs and derogatory comments had been spray painted on their property. Further, the family’s Christmas presents were all stolen from a vehicle and a garage.

Chief Lon Walker confirms the police received the report Monday morning.

“We found vandalism to the house. When we got there, we found some racial things regarding presidential candidate Barack Obama,” he said.

Marie Ortiz has been working as a volunteer for the Obama campaign locally. She has volunteered her time in the office, going door to door, and has signs supporting Obama in her yard.

She has two children, ages 11 and 2.

But Christmas was not completely ruined for the youngsters. Campaign workers at the local Obama office came by on Christmas Eve with presents.

A neighbor also gave the family some money to replace some of the things that were lost.

“They were really a godsend,” Ortiz said.

Walker reported he considers the case somewhat unusual because there has been no other reports of such severe backlash for those outwardly supporting presidential candidates. Even among Obama backers, no other crime of this degree has been reported.

“We are treating it right now as if the derogatory racial comments were aimed toward Obama,” the chief said. “We’re not treating it as a hate crime because it does not appear as if the victims were the intended recipient of the racial slurs.”

The couple living at the home comes from a minority heritage.

However, Ortiz has a different opinion on the matter.

“A hate crime is a hate crime. I think it was probably racially motivated,” she said.

At this point, the police have little to go on. Some footprints were found in the snow and photographed, but a canvas of the neighborhood turned up no significant information.

“If anyone saw anything or knows of anything, we’d sure love to hear from them,” Walker said.
