The Kansas City Star said that Bristol Palin's fans ruined the show.
Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah Palin, beat Brandi, which is another way of saying that Brandi was picked for elimination over Bristol Palin. It was all in the voting.
Voting not monitored by Dancing With The Stars producers.
Did Tea Party Movement assholes team up pick Palin over Brandi to make a statement? That's what many bloggers are speculating. Why?
Because Palin's dancing was so bad at points,
This is what Death By 1000 Papercuts wrote:
We looked at several Tea Party forums and did find evidence of individuals in the comment section of one Sarah Palin site who bragged they’d voted multiple times for Bristol including one individual who boasted they’d voted for Bristol ’55 times’. Even so, were there literally ‘millions’ of Sarah Palin fans who racked up cell phone and text message bills to vote for Bristol? We doubt it as there were only a few individuals who admitted they’d voted multiple times for Bristol.
Was the ability to vote for Bristol more than once an ABC glitch? We don’t think so as we watched the entire season of the show and we can’t recall ABC warning viewers they could call or text only one ‘vote’. If individuals could vote more than once for Bristol there was ability of viewers to vote more than once for Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey, and Brandy.
The problem is that Bristol Palin has earned lower dance scores than Brandi, yet stays on. It's a problem so large, the show's producers have made statements to calm the crowd. This is what Dancing With The Stars Producer Conrad Green told EW's Popwatch:
A little bit of a deep breath needs to be taken. If you look at the judges scores alone, undoubtedly, Brandy has been a better dancer throughout the competition. But the gap between her and Bristol has closed. One thing that people aren’t really taking into account [when it comes to Palin] is that a lot of viewers vote for improvement. Bristol has made a huge improvement. While she is obviously behind still in terms of technical ability, she’s that much closer than she ever was before.
There is a popularity contest element to it, but really we let the audience vote so they can put their spin on the results. Their spin could come from any number of sources. We don’t do research into how and why people vote. It might be because they like their teeth, they might come from the same state, it might be because they have always been a fan of their mother, it might be because they always liked their music. There are a million reasons people can vote. But we think its an important correction within the system. We get celebrities from all kinds of backgrounds and some people have got a lot more dance experience than others.
Don't do research into why people vote?
Is Green kidding?
In other words, the vote could be gamed, and the Dancing With The Stars
minders would never know it.
That's not good for the show or for America. It's certainly not good for Brandi.
I quetion ABC integrity. How did Bristol get on a show that is for the "stars"? She has a baby and became a star? I tried voting on Mon for Brandy and constantly got a " all circuits are busy" message. In the behind the scenes, Brandy worked hard while Bristol complained about missing Alaska and how hard it was to dance. I and done watchign DWTS, and will not tune into ABC for anything anytime soon. ABC shows that politics counts not viewers
ReplyDeleteShould have got ACORN involved on brandys behalf.
ReplyDeleteU suck green, I am done watching this unfair show. Bristol should have been out long ago. She sucks!
ReplyDeleteI think Politicians should be banned from Dancing With the Stars, they do not qualify as stars. Their Political base votes for them regardless of qualifications just like they do in the public elections.
ReplyDeleteNow come on, someone in that family should be earning a regular pay-check!! And show the world that all Palin's aren't quitters!! And why are you surprised people, their followers have always voted for their cronies and not for the best, most qualified person!! Can't you see the campaign ads now, "I voted for NO TAXES and Bristol Palin."
ReplyDeleteYeah, but it's okay for senators like Al Franken to come up with thousands and thousands of votes from thin air. Something that actually effects our lives. Whatever.
ReplyDeletePeople should only be allowed to vote one time. This would help solve the problem when politics is involved. I agree with the person that said that Bristol is not a star. She shouldn't have been on the show in the first place. And they kept putting Sara Palin on the show, while not equally putting family members of the other dancers on the show. Did the Republicans pay money to get her on the show for publicity? I am dissappointed with DWTS since they involved politics.
ReplyDeleteShe should not have been there in first place.....tell me how is she a Star???? self proclame star??
ReplyDeleteI just can't beleive this happened, not because of who palin is but Brandy beat them out in every dance! I will never watch the show again..but who cares anyway....
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if Sarah Palin supporters / tea partiers have an organized operation going (much like a political campaign) where they send out mass text / phone messages to all their minions giving them the voting information for Bristol and telling them to max out their votes for Bristol Palin every Monday night as soon as the information to vote for Bristol is posted on the show. That way, these people don't even have to watch the show - all they have to do is max out their votes for Bristol as soon as they get receive the Bristol voting information from "headquaters" via text or phone message every Monday night.
ReplyDeleteI had difficulty getting through when voting for Brandy. Odd screeching tones and recorded numbers repeating (i.e. 32, 47 132), etc..really strange. I believe it's rigged. No more DWTS for me!
ReplyDeleteThe first question ABC should answer is the criteria used to qualify as a "Star." What has Bristol accomplished in life other than give birth to a child out of of wedlock?
ReplyDeleteDWTS proved conclusively that fame trumps dancing skills. In Bristol's case, her "fame" is counterfeit and her dancing dismal.
Voting was rigged. Pure and simple. These minions like a cult receive their orders via text in very simple tea party english words - have no idea what the show does and like their undercover carrie-ann sucker go on a rampage. I stopped watching dancing with the stars 3 weeks ago. This bristol beat Rick Fox and Kurt Warner - really? Palin's trying to make more news right now after the voting controversy on her 'never can dance daughter' of hers so she can stay relevant for the tea party minions. America, stay away from dancing with the stars. Ask CNN why they are getting so sucked into this Alaska crazy news. Go 2012, let's send these tea suckers to their caves.
ReplyDeleteBristol has worked hard, but, why is she even on this show? My wife and I asked that question from the beginning. How has she lasted this long? Others with the same level would be gone by now. Well, all this has done has made this a slam dunk for Jennifer to win. I was looking forward to Jennifer and Brandy to be going against each other in the finals. I hope that ABC will look at this and see that something needs to be changed in the voting method. Could be that ABC does not want just one vote per person. How could they say, we had a record vote, 264 million votes this week. But, only 264 people watching. Be careful with this one ABC as if this continues, you may not have any more people watching your show and we will be one family that will quit watching DWTS.

ReplyDeleteI have been a fan of DWTS since the beginning. This time, when I heard Bristol was going to be on, I couldn't even bring myself to watch for the first few weeks. Finally I did and each week when she remained on, I knew why - the tea baggers. Yuk. After watching this week's results, it appears her voters are just plain blind. I called and was unable to get through. OK, it's just a TV show. Hopefully enough votes come through next week for either Kyle or Jennifer - but please, not BP!
ReplyDeletei will not watch this show ever again. Brandy and her partner were excellent!!!!
ReplyDeleteI also tried voting for Brandy two weeks in a row and was unable to. At first I thought I dialed the number wrong but when I dialed again, nothing and then the same thing the next week.
ReplyDeleteI gave up ever trying to call into an
ReplyDelete"america vote line" for any of the shows that do that (ie, American Idol, America's got talent, DWTS) The lines are always busy. I wonder how they can get millions of votes cast in such a short time frame anyway. Especially when fanatics are calling in 6 or 7 times each.
It's a popularity contest.
What a load...the show is RIGGED. What are political hacks like Palin and Delay doing on the show anyway? ABC is pandering to these politicians for somw sort of favor down the road. I'll never watch this sham show again!
ReplyDeleteOf course it's rigged! Producers of these shows have rigged these shows from the beginning for various purposes. Disney/ABC is only a half step above FOX when it comes to promoting the right-wing agenda which is why you see people like Delay and Palin on the show who of course are not even "C" list "stars." Furthermore, just like last season Kate from last season somehow managed to stay on long after she should have been eliminated. This is because the producers simply keep them on claiming they received public support (in Kates case because Disney owned her contract and was simply giving themselves free publicity). It's all B.S. just like Network News (with few exceptions) and talk radio. American Media is probably at the most corrupt state it has ever been in the history of our nation. The solution is to do like most of us who are intelligent and stop watching and/or stop supporting sponsors of FOX, Disney and other
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that Bristol could get straight 4's in all her dances in the finale in still beat Jennifer and Kyle. It's not fair and I don't see how she keeps staying in when 99% of the public comments are that they are sick of seeing her stick around. It's stupid and the whole "it's because she is improving" is a huge load of bull and the produces and Bristol know it.
ReplyDeleteDelusions of power.....
ReplyDelete-ABC wants RATINGS, hate or love.
-DWTS Consumers (of a vicarious fantasy) want their favorite to win; or to dance...even learn to dance through our pick.
-Fanatics want to WIN....at ANY cost.
Idol, America's got talent...all work the same. Too bad we want to fight for opinion, than the truth. I like Brandy. I didn't watch Palin,Jr. For me, the annual promise of San Diego Chargers or Padres to be the champs taught me to give up silly attachments!
Truth..... If we can find it.
I refuse to watch DWTS if Bristol Palin wins this competition! How could ABC allow politics to be involoved in a program that is for entertainment? Bristol should have been eliminated from the beginning! She stomps like an elephant, and has no unique moves, like the other dancers.ABC makes her dance at the end to keep people watching the show...I think the judges are afraid of telling the truth!Even our local newspaper and news stations are saying it's ridiculous!!!Shame on you ABC!!!!
ReplyDeleteDWTS voting system is a bogas. First, you should not be able to vote until the show is over and second people should be able to vote for 1 hour after the show. Third, they need more phone lines so people can vote. Tonight I tried for 45 minutes to get through and could only vote 4 times. My son and daughter-in-law waited until the show was over and could not get throught because of busy signals or the message, "Your call could not go through". They did not get to place any calls. My sister in West Virginia tried for 40 minutes and was not able to vote at all. Everyone one of the attempts to vote were for Jennifer. Something is seriously wrong. I tried to vote on the internet and could not get logged in. DWTS needs to check with American Idol about their phone line. I do like that everyone can cast just so many votes with DWTS. I wish Americal Idol would limit the number of votes you can cast.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. I never vote because I usually grow attached to them and would not want to be a party to choosing one over another. Call me a softy. I am happy for those who win and feel sad for those that are sent home (I think they should all stay to end and then tally the scores).
ReplyDeleteWould that the audience was as gracious as the contestants. It is a sad commentary on society when those whose favorites do not make it attack those who remain. What is even worse is that a young girl is attacked and maligned because of her mother. No more and no less. These people I find particularly pathetic and deserving of scorn. Obviously everyone is free to weigh in but for those of you who attack her because of her mother, at the very least, you should exhibit enough integrity to admit that your political beliefs have entered every facet of your being before spewing out your criticism.
For those who are so emotionally crippled that they see politics on the dance floor, I suggest they quit watching television and start playing video games, it would be more in keeping with their social skills.
wow someone here says its sad that a young girl is attacked because of her mother. Well her mother chose to have a life in the media and promote certain values only to find that her own offspring aren't supporting her beliefs. This show is called dancing with the stars. Bristol is not a star, i don't even know how she got onto this show but from the performance I saw of her on this show I could not believe she made it past round one. And then for her to beat out someone who has had great score throughout the show and an excellent final score is ridiculous. you say we are criticizing her we are merely pointing out the fact that she is only still on the show because of her mother's political agenda, and definitely not because of talen "or lack there of" the producers claiming its about her improving is just an excuse pulled from their arse to cover the rigged voting. You can't say ppl are overreacting when noone can get through to vote for people who actually deserve to be on the show. If BP didn't want to be criticized for being on a show that's made for entertainment she should have never accepted the offer to join it. She chose to go on it and as a result will be under scrutiny. You can't dictate the type of attention you'll receive.
ReplyDeleteI do not get the sense that people are against Bristol becasue she is Sarah's daughter. They are against her becasue in spite of her poor performance, she continues to stay in the competition. If we, as Americans, believe in fair play, she should rightly be gone by now.
ReplyDeleteThere are literally millions of teenage girls that could kick bristols butt in dancing! It is disgusting that she is all up in these conspiracies in the media and even getting this press! She is horrible! Aaaarg what a mistake by the producers of the show! foooey!
ReplyDeleteAmazing that people think Bristol is controlling the votes. Wow, just think, not even 21 and having that much power. Of course I believe that... Oh, puhleeze! She's a kid, not a politician. Great world we live in when a kid is victimized by those who do not like her mother. Yes, you are right, her mother chose to get into politics. It was not Bristol's choice. For those of you willing to convict someone for the actions of another, please do us all a favor and never serve on a jury! She is not terrible, even the judges say she has good technique, they just want more feeling. Kyle is the opposite, he has great feeling for entertainment but poor technique but I don't see people going after him for that. As for Brandy, she too, is a good dancer but I thought her facial expressions were over done. Jennifer Grey, a good dancer never makes those faces. Yet, for all the dancing, I love Kyle the best. His dancing makes me outright happy yet I bet he doesn't win. Still, I am not going to shoot my TV over it. And for those of you who take this show so seriously, feel free to quit watching. No one will miss you because nobody likes whiners. Oh, and speaking of conspiracies, maybe, just maybe, ABC chose her because controversy is great for ratings...nah, they would never, nah... what am I thinking... nah, they wouldn't do that, would they??
ReplyDeleteABC? Well, not really...
ReplyDeletethank goodness she didn't win.
ReplyDeleteBristol should have been gone, not only before Kurt and Rick, but also prior to Audrina. Maybe voting machines aren't the only devices that can be rigged or messed with, as alot of people up above who tried to vote for GREAT dancers, like Jennifer or Brandi, didn't get a chance.
ReplyDeleteI have watched more than a few seasons of DWTS, and my call would have had Bristol gone, as I say above, before Audrina. Final 3 would have been Kyle, Brandi and Jennifer, with Kyle still finishing 3rd, but Brandi deserved her final showdown with (the excellent) Jennifer Grey, and I felt cheated too, although did not shoot my TV. Wonder what the final would have ended up if all the phone lines worked? This reminded me of the 2000 presidential election, if on a mercifully smaller scale.
Brandi, you deserved to be in the finals, and I hope DWTS invites you back next season, but would understand if you declined. I loved watching you dancing, and I wish you'd gotten all your votes.
I agree that bristol should have been gone weeks ago on her dancing skill alone BUT!!!! it is still the popularity vote that makes the show so different. think about it you say those tea party voters rigged it by making extra votes then why didn't everybody else make the same effort for brandi, I sure did computer geek that I am found a way to vote a total of 62 times. So don't bitch about others when you should all be ashamed for not trying harder. Remember the majority in this country today vote and watch for what is popular you all voted for a president who in my opinion was way under-qualified for the job yet everybody voted for the popular idea of who he is and many more watch shows like jersey shore ghost hunters instead of watching shows with legitimate acting. Why? you ask because it was popular not because it was good or right just popular so all I have to say is BaH bah little sheep just keep going mindlessly with your lives. And remember when you are only looking at a giant ass on TV remember its on because it was popular or you were told it was.
