Cloverfield Clues - Cloverfield and Slusho - So What?

Ok, I'm going to go on a small rant regarding these clue seekers who are so myopic in their focus they can't tell a product placement from a clue.

First, Slusho is a product. Yes, it appeared in Alias. Yes, it's logo is seen on someone's t-shirt in the Cloverfield trailer . But does this make it a clue? Hell no!

The definition of a Clue is "Something that serves to guide or direct in the solution of a problem or mystery."

So how does a website called Slusho lead is to the solution of the mystery of what this film's about? Answer? It doesn't.

It's a way of Slusho benefiting from this viral marketing campaign. Period. Indeed, they may have paid a fee for this or at the least provided cast and crew with tons of Slusho drinks on the set.

But that's it.

  1. I understand what you are saying... the only problem is that Slusho is not a real product. It does not exist in the US or Japan... only in shows or movies connected to J.J.Abrams...

..and it will form a significant part of the plotline of the as yet untitled movie...

think of it as polyjuice potion (harry potter) with an extra kick..

...and ask yourself this... on the 1-18-08 website, the photo of the character in front of the "we'll miss you" poster... is he drinking willingly or being forced... and what is in the glass....

bet you can't drink just six...

What Scott says is true. It isn't a real drink. In fact, Abrams is said to have made up Slusho! for one of his other works.

Besides that, if you check the History page in Slusho, you'll see that its creation is way too odd and questionable to be real.

If you go there, you'll see the address and phone number of Slusho's "headquarters." However. None of it is actually real. I mean, the location IS real ... but the phone number, fax number, etc is inaccurate and doesn't match up with the location at all.

... What kind of REAL company would do that?
