North Korea Bombs South Korea; Why?

The latest set of Google Trends includes the keywords North Korea Bombs South Korea, which would seem to imply the two nations are at war. What happened was that, for reasons not yet known, North Korea sent an estimated 200 bombs at a South Korean island in what is called The Yellow Sea.

South Korea has "returned fire and scrambled fighter jets in response" according to http://www.aiesalas.com. Here's a CNN video:

What is known, according to CNN, is still a mystery, other than the fact that the island of 1,500 people was it, 14 were injured and one killed.

Stay tuned.

why did North Korea attack the South? Is that question for real?
South Korea keeps "practising" - or I'd rather say provoking - right in front of North Korea.

    I'd refrase the why question...
Why South Korea has to practise exactly at the spot where North Korea can see it the best? Why at the closest spot from North Korea? Why do they have to practise shooting toward North Korea?
And here's a what question just to make it personal.
What would you do if the guy you hate comes to the entrance of your house and starts throwing stones on your door?

now... what was the WHY question?

  3. The accounts disagree regarding who actually fired first, and the odds of being able to trust the media on either side to be truthful are very slim indeed, because there's money at stake.

    What's the simplest explanation?

Both Koreas are acting tough for their own separate reasons; it's going to be fodder for the news services (they love to sell ads, so they cover whatever drives ratings up,) and cause some shakiness in the global stock markets...

    Ask, "who benefits?"

    Follow the money.

Next time, before you vomit on a keyboard, think for a minute and make sure it sounds reasonable.

  5. South Korea retaliated with scrambled fighter jets and about 80 rounds after North Korea fired 200 rounds of artillery shells at the military base on the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong in the Yellow Sea. Both countries claim that the other side started bombing first.
