-- Relax. Barack Obama understands that circumstances call for a liberal response, so he can afford to put on a centrist dress.

Obama Chief Speech Writer Jon Favreau In "Grabby" Hillary Clinton Statue Photo
But yes, the man on the left in the photo below is none other than Barack Obama's now famous chief speech writer Jon Favreau, who has the same name as Iron Man director Jon Favreau , but in a different pose. He's obviously having a great time with a cut-out photo statue of Senator and now Secretary of State-Designate Hillary Clinton. I don't know who the guy on the right wearing the "Obama Staff" shirt and kissing the cut-out is.

Hillary Clinton Secretary of State Choice is Obama's Genius
On Monday, President-Elect Barack Obama introduced Senator Hillary Clinton as his choice for Secretary of State. It was a brilliant move for several reasons that I discuss here: CLICK

President-Elect Barack Obama Introduces Foreign Policy Team Today - Video
President-Elect Barack Obama just introduced his Foreign Policy / National Security Team today in Chicago . At the helm is Vice President-Elect Joe Biden, and the real surprise for some, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as Secretary of State, then Eric Holder as Attorney General, Susan Rice as Ambassaor to the United Nations, Ret. General Jim Jones as head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, current Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and Arizona Governor Janet Nepolitano as Director of Homeland Security.
That Clinton is there at all is a testiment to Obama's determination to have a strong voice and a rival in that position. It's also speaks to the Clinton hunger for power and recognition in the 21st Century. In other words, to continue to be a relevant player on tbe World scene. It also marks the return -- however indirectly -- of former President Bill Clinton to the White House. Say what you will, but this is the first former President to have been returned to the White House to help serve a new President. It makes Bill within easy access to President Obama and strengthens Obama's hand on the World Stage: he's got someone considered by some to be the "President of The World" on his side.
Will former-President Clinton upstage his Secretary of State wife? Well, a little bit, but that will be tempered by the fact that the Clinton's do work as a team -- they're a couple. The entire "affair" will be fun to watch.
If you're keeping score regarding these appointments today, we have three women, two African American, and one Republican and all well-qualified. Not bad for a day's work, President-Elect Obama.

Sen. Hillary Clinton Introduces Al Franken For Senator - Minnesota
The full speech of Senator Hillary Clinton introducing Al Franken. who's running for Senator in Minnesota, isn't online yet, but it should be -- Franken and Clinton gave great speeches.
Franken's taking on Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and is ahead in a poll Rassumsen conducted on October 9th, 43 percent to 37 percent. A more recent poll by the Minn Times Star Tribune has him at 3 points, 39 percent to 36 percent.
None of this has reduced the sense of humor of Franken. At today's rally, after a rousing speech by Senator Clinton, Franken took the podium and said "When we decided to run for Senate, Franni (his wife) and I, I said, "And Franni, I'm going to be the Senator," then turned to Clinton with a wry smile.
It was pretty funny to me, though I'm not sure Clinton got the full "yuk" out of it.
Oh well.

Rezko Letter To Court Clears Obama - P.U.M.A Up To It's Old Lies
I happened upon a blog post by some member of "Party Unity My Ass" (P.U.M.A), the small group of sickos who couldn't get over Senator Barack Obama beating Senator Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary. For some of these folks it's like someone forgot to tell the Vietnam P.O.W. that the war was over.
Now, this P.U.M.A guy is way out on left field trying, hoping, begging to make a connection between Obama and Real Estate Developer Tony Rezko that's not there. In fact, he goes so far as to make a link asserting a connection because of a letter that it's apparent the author thinks people aren't going to read!
I read the letter itself and the it's obvious that the P.U.M.A writer was fashioning a lie...
For prosecutors to take on such an activity in itself is criminal and if it's not -- I think it may be -- it should be. That's using an investigation with the taxpayers money to take on a political agenda, in effect having taxpayers pay for a set of lies established to achieve a political objective. In this case, blaming Senator Obama for something that did not happen.
Watch these PUMA nutcases -- that's what I think they are. That's why I put this out, to head off P.U.M.A action.

It reads "Your honor the prosecutors have been overzealous in pursuing a crime that never happened. They are pressuring me to tell them the "wrong" things that I supposedly know about Governor Blagojevich and Senator Obama. I will never fabricate lies about anyone else for selfish purposes..."

Lynn Forester de Rothschild Can Kiss My Elitist, Black Male Butt!
Lynn Forester de Rothschild just made herself my enemy and for a very good reason. The former Hillary Clinton fundraiser came out and basically made a totally racist comment regarding Senator Barack Obama when she said:
This is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever heard in my entire life. This matter of being elitist is a tag that I've gotten -- and frankly wear it -- as have other African Americans who are confident, well-educated, intelligent, and don't fall into deference because someone's White. There are those of us -- who are Black -- who still do this just to, as they say, "get along" but I personally decided a long time ago that I was going to be myself.
In fact, I made that decision at the age of 22 and simply went from there. The reason for that walk, that journey is because American society has sent so many messages to Black men that they're "less than" that one has to fight the messages every day of their lifes.
It's one reason why Black men have such high rates of heart disease and why self esteem is commonly -- even to this day -- sought via athletics and not education because the sport of the body the one area of life where a person can't deny your prowess. Sadly.
Getting good grades is awesome, but people at times have a tendency to pay no attention to transcripts. Scoring touchdowns is hard to ignore.
But I rejected that path at six years old. I decided then that I wanted to lead via the intellect and damn anyone who stood in my way. And yes, I was six. Six.
So I've met a lot of people like Lynn Forester de Rothschild and overcame all of them. See, some people like Lynn Forester de Rothschild are not happy unless they have the subconsious idea that if you're Black, she's better than you are.
Think about it.
Why then would she claim to reject Barack Obama for being elitist, and then run to John McCain, who's not only elitist and can't remember how many homes he owns, but is massively sexist on top of that.
Because McCain's White. That's why. Lynn Forester de Rothschild expected Barack to kiss her ring and when he treated her with respect and, well, like any normal person, that wasn't enough for her.
Well, my one request is for Lynn Forester de Rothschild to be kicked off the DNC Platform Committee. As soon as possible.
UPDATE: she's already off of it.
“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don’t like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Charles Krauthhammer Wrong On Obama Again. Forgot About Iraq War
In his latest column, conservative columnist Charles Krauthhammer writes that Senator Barack Obama's rise was not based on any policy position but on this...
Charles, I'm chuckling. You forgot that the many issue Barack Obama gained notice for was his opposition to the war in Iraq. If you need a reminder, here's a 2002 interview on the war on Iraq:
In fact, Obama, who was then in the Illinois Legislature, showed a great grasp of the issues surrounding the Iraq War at that time.
Obama's meteoric rise was based not on issues -- there was not a dime's worth of difference between him and Hillary on issues -- but on narrative, on eloquence, on charisma.

Matthew Modine, Willie Brown, Delegate On Barack Obama Event
On the floor of Invesco Field, I asked Actor Matthew Modine, former California Speaker and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, and a Clinton-now-Obama-delegate for their impressions of the event to that time. Modine said that "this is the place to be. Right here. Right now." Brown remarked that he had "never seen anything like this, and I'm 74 years old."

At Blogger Lounge After DNC Convention - Hillary Clinton's Great Speech
I'm in the middle of uploading videos from being on the floor of the Democratic National Convention, or what we've come to know as the "DNC Convention". I used that term as a throw-away line but it was certainly less than accurate.
Being on the floor of the DNC while someone like Hillary Clinton is giving the speech of her life is a total blood-rush. The reason I go back to the Super BOwl year after year is for the rise of emotions at kick-off. It's a drug like no other -- well, not true.
This. The Clinton speech. In that arena. Equalled the Super Bowl at kickoff.
What was special about Clinton's speech -- what is the hallmark of any wonderful speech -- is the moment. It's that timing we only dream about. A matting of need and action. Of volume and hearing. Of energy and sprit. I have to admit, I've never thought of Hillary Clinton as a great speaker until today. It's not what she said -- there are transcripts to be had of course. But a transcript can't communicate the inflection or the expression or the crowd -- especially the crowd -- that listened and reacted to that speech.
How an audience reacts to any speech in my view is the measure of the greatness of the work. It makes total sense. Words move people. From that perspective, Senator Clinton moved a nation tonight. She gave a great speech that will go down in history as one of the greatest speeches because it met the moment and defined it.

DNC Convention - Rep. Rahm Emanuel Speaks
It is 6pm and Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel has just given a great speech with a clear voice especially since he was the lead of an awesome party last night.
Now, having taken the large group photo, the crowd chanted Obama! Obama! All this while Hillary Clinton waits .
DNC Convention - Third Day In Denver; At Specialty Media Center
As I write this, I'm sitting at something called The Specialty Media Center, sponsored and ran by Microsoft. It's a simple affair, with tables chairs and a computer setup in the back. There are two couch stations with plasma screen televisions tuned to CNN. It's a great place to upload videos or -- as I'm doing -- install this blog report.
Right now, it's 12:25. I'm about to upload a video featuring Cornell West and Tavis Smiley -- in fact, I'll do that now -- then will go to a hotel to get a lost credit card and then Walgreens and then Pepsi Center. I'm also worry about one of our group who's basically flown off-course dramatically and hurtfully.
It's the drama you didn't expect and don't want.
But that aside, this convention is a blast. It's the combination of the Super Bowl and The Olympics at once. Over the past three days, two of them active, I've met more movers and shakers than I can shake a stick at: Ed Gordon, Cornell West, Steve Doocy, Rep Jesse Jackson, Jr., Steve Westy, Jamal Anserson, Protesters, and the list goes on.
Last night you may have see the Michelle Obama speech, and the wonderful exchange between she and her daughters, and Barack. The convention's buzzing about that.
Today, it's Hillary's turn.

Rep. Jim Clyburn On The Clinton Legacy & Black America
At the Yahoo! Politico morning breakfast, I could think of no better person to talk to about the matter of the Clinton Legacy and Black America, than Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina. Clyburn said that the speeches by both Clintons and Senator Obama would define their legacies.

Mental Health of concern to Denver Convention attendees
Chatting with convention goers outside the Colorado Convention Center on Sunday August 25 I met Hope Turlington of Raleigh, North Carolina, who has abundant concerns over federal funding for mental health, both in terms of military veterans, and non-military citizens of the USA. She is distrubed by the prospects for returning Iraq vets dealing with mental stress and trauma as a result of service to this country.
Hope is deeply concerned about the effects of the scheduled "transition/closing" of the Dorothea Dix Mental Hospital. She pointed out that the great North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms has said that "our sick deserve a view from Dix Hill as much as anybody," yet developers are bidding to take that land away - to turn it into a money maker for a private entity at the expense of people suffering from various forms of acute and/or chronic mental illness. De-institutionalization is not a viable treatment protocol for many of the people who have been diagnosed and committed, yet the transition from John Umstead and Dorothea Dix Hospitals to Central Regional Hospital (CRH) began last month (July 2008.) The CRH-Dix Unit will be operational upon the closing of Dorothea Dix Hospital, but Hope fears a downscaling under the guise of the Olmstead decision that will force people out into society who are not able to cope without the support structures serving them today.
She was looking forward to the Health Care forum with Hillary Clinton later in the week, and hoping Elizabeth Edwards would be present as well. The looming upswing in U.S. citizens needing institutional care will place further pressures on the system - which is why any cutback in Raleigh is of overwhelming concern to Hope.

Hillary Supporter Not A Democrat - DNC Convention Sunday
This video is of an interview conversation I had with a Hillary Clinton supporter who as it turned out was not a Democrat but an "independent" who was rather not rational. She was addressed by a real Hillary Clinton supporter who is a Clinton delegate, Mitch Mallett of Florida.

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones Passes
This is purely shocking to happen to someone I saw on television so much I felt like I knew her. And this just days from the Democratic National Convention. She was a tireless supporter of Hillary Clinton for President, and even as I'd wished she was behind Senator Obama at the time, I always respected her drive and example for young women.
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) _ Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, had a brain hemorrhage and was in critical condition with limited brain function, a doctor said Wednesday.
Tubbs Jones, 58, suffered the hemorrhage while driving her car in Cleveland Heights on Tuesday, said Dr. Gus Kious, president of Huron Hospital in East Cleveland. The congresswoman had been driving erratically and her vehicle crossed lanes of traffic before coming to a stop, police said.
Tubbs Jones "collapsed when she suffered a very serious brain hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm that burst in an inaccessible part of her brain," Kious said during a news conference. A team of doctors who evaluated her determined she has limited brain function.
A brain aneurysm is a bulge in an artery in the brain. It can leak or rupture, causing bleeding in the brain.
Obama VP: Biden, Clinton, Bayh, Kerry or Clark? Who? - DNC Convention
Any day or moment Senator Barack Obama will pick his vice presidential running mate. But who should it be? Senator Joe Biden? Senator Hillary Clinton? Senator Evan Bayh? Senator John Kerry? Or General Wesley Clark? I talk about these possible choices and who I favor, which is an Obama Clinton ticket.
The reason I favor an Obama / Clinton ticket is that it would reform the party and unity would be the word. I still hold it's the most exciting and electrifying of all of the possible combinations before us that are realistic.
Evan Bayh is a popular two-term Senator who comes from Indiana royalty, but outside that state, where can he be most effective? He's just not exciting in my view.
Senator Joe Biden is a fighter and well-known around the World. I think he would bring a lot to the Obama brand, but I'm just not sure he can move the voters like Clinton could.
Then we come to Senator John Kerry, who's ran before and for President. Senator Kerry would bring a large email list and donor base but I think Obama / Kerry would be seen as a match of two elites.
General Wesley Clark certainly has a compelling story, and a war record that surpasses that of John McCain. Clark's been a powerful ally to Obama and would make a great choice to bring liberals solidly into the Obama tent. But can he draw votes? That's the question.
For my money Clinton's the best choice, even with the negative energy she seems to draw from others. But Clinton's not far and away the best selection and I could be swayed to someone else if I knew they would bring votes. Perhaps Kerry could best do that. We shall known soon.

West Virginia Racism Shown In Video On Obama
I've seen a lot of crappy people in this election cycle, but this video shows a lot of them. It was made just before the West Virginia Primary and has whites just saying that they will not vote for Senator Obama as president because he's Black.
It's the kind of racism Hillary Clinton played on to gain votes. Will it reveal itself during the DNC Convention?
If you want to see how sick America -- or at least West Virginia -- can be, watch this video:
West Virginians should be ashamed of themselves for being racist. For just wanting to basically hurt themselves just to avoid voting for someone because they're Black. That's the ultimate in mental illness, which is what Racism is.
