Georgia Aquarium Planet Shark Tour in Atlanta, GA

The Georgia Aquarium and the Planet Shark exhibit are a must see if you're visiting Atlanta, GA. With the exception of the giant fish-shaped "G" that's visible from a distance in downtown Atlanta, The Georgia Aquarium is rather unremarkable in its exterior design, but the interior more than makes up for it, as well as the story of how it came to be.

Now, what's this blogger doing at The Georgia Aquarium? Simple. Atlanta, Georgia has become a second home because my mother lives their and one of the obligations of being an only child is going back to keep my widowed mother company and give help around the house. Given the time spent in Atlanta, getting involved in the local culture was logical.

An internet marketer working with the Georgia Aquarium happened to issue a tweet from the Georgia Aquarium twitter account that a "Planet Shark blogger day" was to be held. I happened to see the tweet, signed up and asked permission to use my camcorder to make the video blog that's part of this blog entry.

Frankly, the Georgia Aquarium Planet Shark Tour video was coming out to be rather boring until Hanna literally happened by, but I'll get to that in a moment.

The experience started with a host in the video who at first didn't seem familiar with the idea of being video-blogger. The gentleman was trying to talk around the camcorder rather than to it. But after he realized it was a serious production, the host explained that The Georgia Aquarium was started via a $250 million investment by Atlanta resident Bernie Marcus, who established the Home Depot store chain.

The Georgia Aquarium is the World's largest with over 8.1 million gallons of water, and a perfect example of how well-heeled residents of The South have literally spent cities like Atlanta and Dallas into World-class status. With Dallas, it was the totally-privately-financed Dallas Arts District and the Dallas Symphony Hall at its center. With Atlanta, it was the creation of CNN by Ted Turner, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and now the Georgia Aquarium.

The Georgia Aquarium's promoting Planet Shark, a special exhibit built by Shark expert Rodney Fox. While you can read more about it at its website, what was interesting was the use of giant "website-like" display panels to show shark physiology. The best information was on how few humans were killed by sharks versus the large number of sharks killed by people - no word about the famous shark attacks on the crew of the USS Indianapolis. The overall set of displays, designed to combat the idea that sharks are dangerous man-eating monsters, is effective and entertaining.

Video use was restricted to a degree, so that curtained much of the story I wanted to tell, until I met Hanna.

Hanna's a volunteer tour guide at The Georgia Aquarium who was waiting for an elevator as I was leaving. I happened to ask her how much time I had until closing and she told me. Frankly, her voice was so clear and perfect for a video I asked her if I could film her and she agreed. The result was what one of my constant video watchers Alan Molsted called one of the best videos I've ever done.

Hanna led a journey into a must see part of The Georgia Aquarium: the tube-like glased-in walkway that travels through a 6.3 million water tank. During our tour we saw divers above us who, Hanna informed, were "our visitors." One can pay between $200 and $300 to be part of a guided scuba dive tour and swim with, but not touch, the whale sharks. All one has to do is visit the Georgia Aquarium website and sign up.

Our tour ended at another giant water tank that's visible via an equally giant glass wall that must be two-stories high. As the video shows, its a breath-taking site. It would have been unseen here were it not for Hanna. Moreover, whoever's in charge of marketing for The Georgia Aquarium should make Hanna the paid star of a video tour series. She's that good on camera. Additionally, there should be a blogger day for the whole facility, not just Planet Shark.

In closing, the Georgia Aquarium's an incredible place to visit, either alone, with friends, or especially with kids, who just get pure joy out of the experience. Most of the visitors were families with young children, and all well-behaved and having fun.

Check it out.

A fourth mistress of Jesse James is coming forward condoms may not be a priority but Gloria Allred as your lawyer is

Rumors go on and on about lots of  sex-texting, no underwear, no condoms but few women involved with this scandal and the Tiger Wood scandal seemed that concerned about having an affair, as much as getting publicity and like the newest Jesse James mistress about to emerge -- no. 4, getting the  "top tigress " Gloria Allred as her lawyer .   In these kinds of cases,  why would she need Gloria Allred unless ta da.... she, like many of Tiger Woods mistresses,  is thinking about Allred  negotiating  some big cashola.  No. 4 for JJ claims to have had a relationship for several years that just ended.  Yes,  Gloria Allred is your go to lawyer specializing in this new genre of celebrity sex-texters with serial mistresses.   Wow, times have changed.  Adultery is a big business!!!!!!!!

I don't believe in cheating and lying.  A lot of men do not wear wedding rings and they do pass themselves off as single.  These men are to be avoided like the plague.  Even if a man and woman have an open agreement that cheating is acceptable I still say no thanks.

Cheating is common place and occurs more than one might think with both males and females globally and in some countries is accepted but not in America which still has a Puritan stance on adultery although again many Americans do cheat.  Pamela Druckerman has a book out on this topic which I am reading called Lust in Translation: Infidelity from Tokyo to Tennessee .  I am reading this book  because I have had married men hit on me and also because a long time ago I  had this nutty old woman accuse me of adultery with her decaying husband and besides the fact it was not true I could see how much drama and importance it added to her day. FYI, I tend to like younger men and go through a diatribe on how you have to be single.  I mean really single and that includes not living with someone.

Gays fight for the right for marriage and I support their right to be married but there are people like me that to date have avoided marriage for the simple reason marriages so rarely really work.  Apparently Sarah Silverman is like minded but far more extreme. http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/marriage_gross_NahkvvPNZZl03pjtRJDSfK

I do think about marriage.  It is hard not to in this society.   The pressure is to be married and you are definitely treated differently-- not in a good way --  as a single.   My favorite photo of an unconventional wedding is Mike Lichter's Just Married which is a biker photo that I happen to own. Sturgis (Dakotas) I do think about getting married with a pre-nup -- what's mine is mine and what's yours is your and marry asap to a guy with good health benefits because my pay out each month is way too high but other wise I don't see marriage anytime in the near future.

I do think if you want to make sure a married man does not cheat on you, the wife needs to tattoo or brand her tele no. on his forehead like 911 with instructions to call  or even better  LoJack his package but the odds are if your spouse was cheating before the marriage he is most likely not going to stop when he marries you.  Some women pretend they did not know or were clueless but it is hard to believe.  I am sure if Sandra Bullock really thought about it -- she had to see the red lights but she did not let herself process the information.  I never have seen adultery as just between two people.  I  believe the wife almost always knows.  Most likely there were warning signals before the marriage and sometimes the husband is cheating and it is not with a woman.   The Confession

There is no doubt that women cheat on their husbands as well and the husband can be devastated but in one example given in "Lust in Translation", he was devastated but he had cheated as well so there can be a double standard based on gender and as usual women are judged far more harshly than men.  In the case of Tiger Woods and Jesse James, their actions are so  extreme, mega-narcissists and they seem to have little understanding their children are the biggest casualties.   One big shift which I am suprised about is people are very angry and disgusted with the men  and instead of being perceived as super studs they are being looked at as super destructive, super slime with serious problems throwing away an awful lot that most people would be grateful for.

I won't say never but so far I have avoided marriage.

Note:  I am as usual extemely exhausted.  Besides some health issues I am addressing including "throat burn" aka acid reflux, I have a cold and I am too tired to proof but you get the jist of what I am saying.  I write and do my art, YouTubes that get to the heart and soul of what I am saying, you either get it or don't.

I wrote this in response to a comment on my facebook:
It is not a coincidence -- the timing. Women tend to be very believing, very compassionate, very hopeful with bad guys and mostly they are very betrayed. If belief was a bank account filled with gold most of us that believed have been left feeling robbed. She had to have ignored the warning signs including his resume of two failed marriages, 3 kids with 2 women and the fact he was not involved with the kids until Sandra put the pressure on him to jointly parent them with her. I wanted Gabby to win but Sandra did and instead of basking in the glow she is basking in humiliation. I think he is so shut down and so used to being above it and in his own insulated world it was like  2  Jesses and one deeply resented her and one did really love her. But I am sure he is addicted to the high of each sexcapade and even falling in love. Predication - divorce and he will be married again is a few years. Sandra will remain unmarried.  Written by Suzannah B. Troy

Sandra Bullock divorce from Jesse James rumor withstands publicist

The very idea that Sandra Bullock may seek a divorce from Jesse James is withstanding whatever Bullock's publicist might say.

This news has been one big back and forth in one Tuesday day, starting with TMZ.com's sources asserting that both Bullock and James were seeking divorce, and that news being transferred around the Internet, then allegedly Bullock's publicist (or someone claiming to be that) telling only a few selected news blogs the divorce news wasn't true, only to see that effort slam-dunked by Bill Zwecker at the Chicago Sun-Times with a new blog that his sources claimed the divorce process was in motion.

And all of this on the same day that President Barack Obama signed Health Care Reform legislation into law.

If content is to be the judge, then a divorce of some kind is in the offing. The problem for Sandra Bullock's publicist is the person's being overwhelmed by Bullock's associates and others claiming to be Bullock's associates issuing news that at times runs counter to what the publicist says. That and the fact that the publicist lacks the New Media tools to get a handle on the situation.

Add to that TMZ and In Touch Magazine, and who knows who else paying for people to talk to them or provide videos and photos and it's all one big mess of conflicting information. So if you're searching around the Internet trying to get a grip on the right information, good luck.

Here are the basic facts:

1) Sandra Bullock was allegedly cheated on by her husband Jesse James.
2) Sandra Bullock has known this for some time and before the Oscar ceremony.
3) Sandra Bullock left home and away from Jesse James.
4) Sandra Bullock has cancelled a number of appearances since the news hit the media.
5) Jesse James lost his dog, then got him back
6) Michelle "Bombshell" McGee was a model wearing a Nazi bikini and arm band.
7) Michelle "Bombshell" McGee is a porn actress and a stripper.
8) Michelle "Bombshell" McGee was paid for her story.
9) Sandra Bullock was trying to help Jesse James keep custody of his kids.

That's what's known as of this point in time. The divorce news is too conflicting to be solid, but there's certainly smoke around the story, and where there's smoke there's a fire that may be too big for Bullock's publicist to put out.

Stay tuned.

The AMPAS Building
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Professor Peter Decherney and Professor Harlow Robinson are the 10th Academy Film Scholars. Decherney and Robinson were selected by the Academy's Institutional Grants Committee, and will receive $25,000 to assist in research and development of their respective projects.

The Academy describes the projects of these film scholars as follows:

Decherney, an assistant professor of English and cinema studies at the University of Pennsylvania, will tackle the film industry’s engagement with copyright law and digital media, in such areas as antipiracy campaigns, filmmakers’ rights, plagiarism, fair use and the legal environment for new technologies. The book will also demonstrate how Hollywood has responded to its intellectual property issues through self-regulation. Decherney's book will be titled Hollywood's Copyright Wars.

Robinson, a Matthews Distinguished University Professor in the Department of History and Program in Cinema Studies at Northeastern University, will delve into the career of Oscar-winning director Lewis Milestone. Milestone's 37-year career, during which he completed 38 feature films. They include the Best Picture nominees The Front Page (1931), Of Mice and Men (1939) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) as well as Best Picture winner All Quiet on the Western Front (1930). As part of his research Robinson plans to interview current filmmakers, including Steven Soderbergh, who directed the remake of Milestone's "Ocean’s Eleven" (1960). The book will also examine Milestone's contributions to a variety of film genres, including film noir, musical, comedy and war drama. Robinson's book is tentatively titled Lewis Milestone: A Hollywood Career.

Captain America is Chris Evans in new movie

Chris Evans, who's familiar with Marvel Comics characters having worn the costume of "Johnny Storm The Human Torch" in The Fantastic Four Series, will work with Marvel yet again as "Captain America" in a three-movie deal.

Chris Evans signed the agreement today, and reportedly can't wait to get started. Neither can Captain America fans. The movie's target release date is July 22nd, 2011.

The Captain America movie has been in development hell for decades.  A number of treatments and scripts have flown around Hollywood.  But it wasn't until the development of the financing system for Marvel Entertainment movies and the success of movies like Spider Man, that Captain America became a reality.

The last Captain America movie was made in 1990 and had more a TV-movie feel. Here's a clip from that 1990 Captain America:

According to Variety, This Captain America deal calls for three movies starting with The First Avenger: Captain America. Then Chris Evans will join Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Ed Norton (The Incredible Hulk), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the much-anticipated Marvel Entertainment movie The Avengers, slated for May 4th 2012.

Joe Johnston, who directed The Wolfman, will manage Captain America, based on a script to be written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Captain America is the story of Steve Rogers, who's part of a government experiment to create the perfect human weapon to fight the Nazis during World War II (maybe he can help Sandra Bullock against Nazi-bikini-wearing Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.)

Given something called super-solidier-serum, Rogers' body transforms such that he's able to run a mile-a-minute, and bench press up to 1,100 pounds.

Captain America also had a special bulletproof shield he used as a boomerang. Captain America's villain was called The Red Skull and will be played by Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, V)

Like other Marvel Comics cartoons of the 1960s (like Spider Man), Captain America had its own catchy tune. Here it is:

Reportedly there have been several versions of the script for The First Avenger: Captain America, and at least one account reports the take is "knock your socks off."

Stay tuned.

Countering TMZ.com, USA Today and other sources claim that Sandra Bullock and Jesse James are not seeking divorce. The USA Today story lacks a direct quote from Sandra Bullock's publicist, so a call was placed to the person by this blogger just 20 minutes before the posting of this Sandra Bullock and Jesse James update.

There may be another problem, speculatively.

With TMZ.com and publications like In Touch Magazine paying for stories from people involved or claiming to be involved with Sandra Bullock, Jesse James, or Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, it's hard to separate fact from fiction. Some are bring forward stripping videos, and others claim to have photos of Jesse James in a Nazi salute. That story has not been confirmed and this blogger wonders if TMZ.com was taken for a ride?

For example, In Touch Magazine reportedly paid McGee $30,000 for her initial interview that started the whole scandal story. In it, McGee claimed she did not know that Jesse James was still married to Sandra Bullock, but at least one report on US Magazine has surfaced countering that claim.

Confusion reins in the Sandra Bullock, Jesse James, and Michelle "Bombshell" McGee story.

President Obama Signs Health Care Reform into law today (video)

In what will go down as one of the greatest days in American History, President Barack Obama signed Health Care Reform into law today, Tuesday, March 23rd 2010. For anyone who gave up the idea that America cared enough to take care of its' own, this day that Health Care Reform was signed into law should restore their faith in the U.S.A. Here's the video from The Uptake:

President Obama walked into The East Room of The White House with Vice-President Joe Biden and listened as Biden gave one of his trademark speeches of fire, brimstone, and an F-bomb. Then, Obama stepped to the podium and gave a speech that will go down in history not as his best speech, but one of his most emotional speeches. Several times it seemed the President wanted to cry what would be tears of joy, but he did not. President Obama said...

"We are not a nation that scales back its aspirations. We don't fall prey to fear. We are not a nation that does what's easy. That is not who we are, that's not how we got here. We are a nation that faces its challenges and accepts its responsibilities."

Here's the video of Biden's speech:

President Obama explains what will happen this year under Health Care Reform:

In all, it was and is a great day.

But what's not so great are those who fail to read or understand the legislation, and make baseless claims and charges. For example, the idea that suddenly we have "government run" health care. Not true. But in this, we've always had government regulations that impact health care.

Or the idea of some Republican state's attorneys general that Health Care Reform legislation is unconstitutional, and are filing lawsuits on that basis. People do forget that Federal law overtakes state law. That's government 101.

Moreover, there's no provision in the law that states a person must have health care insurance. A person can elect to be uninsured, but they've got to help pay a small amount for those who want to be insured. That's only fair. But even then, if you have a religious objection to health care, you're in the clear.

It's not logical to want to be uninsured and pay nothing, complain about government, then go into the emergency room of a public hospital and ask for government help that others are paying for. There's a term for that kind of person: freeloader.

Is sexual addiction a recognized clinical disorder? A Clinical Psychologist weighs in.

In the fall of 2009, people around the world became transfixed by world-renowned golf champion Tiger Woods, for reasons other than his golfing prowess, when his extramarital affairs became publicly known. Experts and laypersons alike quickly speculated that Tiger was a ‘sex addict’ as alleged details of his sexual endeavors were exposed for public consumption. Many of us read the headlines and watched the news clips with mixed emotion as he and his family struggled to cope with this difficult time. Some of us may have even scrutinized people in our own lives, wondering “could he or she be a sex addict too?” But truthfully, how many of us are actually familiar with the clinical definition of a sex addict? This article serves to clarify sexual addiction as defined by experts in the field of clinical psychology.

Is sexual addiction a recognized clinical disorder?

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) does not currently recognize sex addiction as a mental illness in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM IV-TR), which provides a common language and standard criteria for the classification of mental disorders. Therefore, no official diagnostic criteria exists for sex addiction.

However, the APA has created classifications that are helpful for understanding specific sexual behavior disorders. These disorders are called paraphilias. The most common include:

* Pedophilia — an adult’s sexual attraction toward children
* Exhibitionism — sexual excitement from exposing one’s genitals in public
* Voyeurism — sexual excitement from watching an unsuspecting person
* Sexual masochism — sexual excitement from being the recipient of inflicted or threatened pain
* Sexual sadism — sexual excitement from threatening or administering pain
* Transvestic fetishism — sexual excitement from wearing the clothing of the opposite sex
* Frotteurism — sexual excitement from touching or fondling an unsuspecting person

All of these disorders are characterized by recurrent, intense, sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges or behaviors involving:

* Non-human objects
* The suffering or humiliation of oneself or one’s partner, children or other nonconsenting persons
* Clinically significant distress in social, occupational or other important areas of functioning caused by the behavior, sexual urges or fantasies.

The broad term of sexual addiction may include some of the obsessions and behaviors caused by these disorders. However, sexual addiction typically involves conventional, or nonparaphiliac, sexual behaviors that when taken to an extreme, like alcohol or any other vice, can interfere with daily functioning and produce guilt, shame and recurrent harm to oneself or others.

Symptoms of sexual addiction

While there is no official diagnosis for sex addiction, researchers and clinicians have attempted to define the disorder using criteria based on chemical dependency literature (see CAGE, or DAST both screening tests commonly used by clinicians). They include:

* Frequently engaging in more sex and with more partners than originally intended.
* Being preoccupied with or persistently craving sex; wanting to cut down and/or unsuccessfully attempting to limit sexual activity.
* Thinking of sex to the detriment of other activities such as work, or family or friends, or continually engaging in excessive sexual acts despite a desire to stop.
* Spending considerable time engaging in sexual activities such as searching for partners, viewing pornographic materials, or visiting pornographic web sites.
* Continually engaging in the sexual behavior despite negative consequences, such as failing relationships, unmet work obligations, or potential health risks.
* Escalating scope or frequency of sexual activity to achieve the desired ‘high’, such as increased number or variety of sexual partners, or more time spent at places such as strip clubs, or swingers bars.
* Feeling irritable or depressed when unable to engage in the desired sexual behavior.

You may have a sex addiction problem if you identify with three or more of the above criteria.

Experts in the field describe sex addicts as tending to organize their world around sex in the same way that heroin addicts organize theirs around heroin. Very often, the goal of people with a sexual addiction in social situations is obtaining sexual pleasure.

Tom Hanks to turn Green Day's American Idiot into a movie

According to Mike Fleming over at Nikke Finke's Deadline.com, Berkeley's Grammy Award-winning band Green Day will see its musical version of American Idiot transformed into a feature-length film by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman of Playtone. The last time Tom Hanks produced a stage-to-screen creation was the Abba musical Mamma Mia!

American Idiot The Musical premiered at The Berkeley Rep Theater on September 16, 2009. Here's a video of images from that event, to 21 Guns:

American Idiot was the seventh album produced by Green Day and was released September 21, 2004. It was recorded at Studio 880 in Oakland, California before finished in Los Angeles. American Idiot is a concept album around a character called "Jesus of Suburbia" or "Johnny in the musical. It's a coming-of-age story around his leaving the suburbs for the city and a path of self-discovery that has a tragic and sad end.

While there's little excitement for the American Idiot musical idea based on some of the comments over at Deadline.com, that may be a mistake. Green Day's loyal audience could be the vehicle for success for the Tom Hanks concept. It's certainly worth a go.

The Roger Goodell Press Conference Transcript From NFL Media.com and from the NFL Owner's Meeting in Orlando, Florida, March 22, 2010.

NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL
Annual Meeting News Conference
Orlando, FL -- March 22, 2010

We started off this morning with my annual report to the clubs. I did that with our executive vice presidents. The real focus was putting the game first and our fans first. We talked a lot about how we need to continue to innovate, how we need to keep looking at new ways of doing things and keep improving what we’re doing. So the next three days is focused on how do we improve the game and how do we keep finding new ways to reach our fans. We reminded everybody that we are in a challenging environment. Most importantly, our fans and our business partners are still in a challenging environment. We expect that will continue for some time. The good news is the quality of the game is outstanding. The interest in our game is outstanding. We will continue to grow in the sense of our popularity as a game. I think that is a positive thing for all of us.

We did talk a little bit, in addition to the question of how do we keep innovating, about some of our key priorities. Player health and safety was the first thing that we reviewed very clearly and we’ll continue to do that over the next few days. We also talked about fan engagement and how do we improve the in-stadium experience for our fans. The third thing was the CBA and continuing the focus of how we negotiate properly and get a fair agreement for not only the owners and the clubs, but also the players and the fans in general. We did distribute the competition committee report as we traditionally do. So that sits for 24 hours and at that point in time we can begin voting on it. When we went back into our owners’ session, we had a report from the finance committee and we had a report from the CEC. That covers the morning. We had a good start. I am happy to take your questions.

Where do things stand with CBA? Have there been recent talks?
There haven’t been any discussions for several weeks. We had a lot of discussions, as you know, leading up to the new [league] year [which began on March 5].

Aren’t the CBA talks simply a “win-lose” situation?
I don’t agree that it is ‘win-lose.’ It is a ‘win-win’ situation. If we can create the right economic system, we can grow the game. If we can encourage the investment and the innovation, all the opportunities continue to expand. By doing that you grow the pie or you grow the pool and there is more to share and everyone benefits from that. I firmly believe, and I think our ownership does also, that this is an opportunity to create a ‘win-win’ situation.

Our negotiating team is outstanding in the sense that the owners have designated Jeff Pash. We have a number of people that are working on that. The CEC has been directly involved in the negotiations. I think John Mara and Mark Murphy have been at almost every negotiating session. We’ve had Ozzie Newsome in some of those negotiating sessions and Robert Kraft has been at some of those negotiating sessions. There have been a number of owners involved. I think they will continue to be involved.

On overtime proposal and your expectations of whether it will pass:
I’m not holding my breath yet. It would have been a long time to hold my breath. I think what the Competition Committee has been reviewing, and I said this morning to the ownership, “don’t let perfect get in the way of better.” I’m not sure there is a perfect overtime system. What we’ve tried to look at is how do we design a system that will be appealing to our fans, first off, and that will stay true to the competitive integrity of our game. I think the Competition Committee has come up with something here that is very much worth consideration. It keeps, for one, the sudden death nature of the game which makes our system unique and attractive. I love the idea that we are in a sudden death scenario. I think it’s responsive to some of the issues that people have said in the past. I think it bears a lot of consideration and it will. We will have the discussion tomorrow morning with the full Competition Committee. I’ve met with them going back to Indianapolis. I met with the players in Indianapolis. I participated in a discussion with the Competition Committee last week and again yesterday. It’s getting a lot of thought. It’s got the potential to be a better system.

On Ed Goren’s comments about RedZone Channel detracting from the value of broadcast rights:
The same way we’ve responded to past criticisms like this. We’re very careful with our content and how we allocate our content. I think we’ve been incredibly respectful to our broadcast partners and I think that there is what you see in the performance of our broadcast partners. Ratings continue to increase. Our viewership continues to increase. All in light of the same concerns expressed with Sunday Ticket as you may remember several years ago. We introduced RedZone this year and our ratings continued to see about a 14% increase. The facts don’t really bear up the issue. But it doesn’t mean we’re not sensitive and respectful to the issue. We just have to continue to innovate and that’s what the RedZone Channel is. It’s an innovation that is allowing our fans to engage with the game in different places and on different platforms. That is good for us and good for everybody, including the networks, which is born out of the fact that the ratings have increased so dramatically. To give our fans and our consumers the opportunity to see more football and to see it on a mobile basis is a pretty exciting opportunity.

On Rams sale and potential hurdles:
We haven’t gotten to that this week yet. We will update the ownership before we leave here this week. I don’t see any significant developments this week.

On Jerry Richardson and his impact on the CEC:
He’s been terrific. Jerry is back. He is very engaged. He’s very focused. He’s involved at every level with us. Today, for the first time, we had a little more of an interactive session in the opening. He was one of the owners that spoke. Other owners also spoke and asked questions along with other personnel. Jerry is very involved and is providing the kind of leadership that ownership wants on this issue.

On Ben Roethlisberger situation and any current actions:
The most important thing is we take the issue very seriously. We are concerned that Ben continues to put himself in this position. I have spoken to the Steelers. I have spoken to Art Rooney directly about it. At the appropriate time I will be meeting with Ben.

On the in-stadium experience competing with the comforts of home:
It may be more comfortable but it’s not more exciting. That’s what we talked about this morning. And we are actually going back this afternoon and we will be spending more time over the next couple of days. The issue for us is we are our own competitor in that sense. High-definition television and RedZone, all of those things do make it attractive to watch on television. It’s also exciting to be in the stadium. Our challenge is to continue to make it exciting for people to come to our facility. And that comes from a lot of different perspectives. You start with fan conduct. We talk about making sure people feel safe and they have a positive experience when they come to our stadiums. You talk about how we entertain them when they come to our stadiums. We have to do more with technology. That is where we come back to innovation. Can we bring the RedZone into the stadium so that people come into the stadium and feel like they’re being entertained, they are not missing any action around the NFL and they are there enjoying a great football game. Our facilities themselves. How do we keep investing in and improving on those stadiums so that they come and have a great experience and great facility? It’s a challenge. You are absolutely right. It’s something that the clubs are meeting head on. We as a league are focused on it and it’s one of our priorities, as I mentioned earlier. Everybody understands it and everyone is dedicated to continuing to invest, innovate and make sure that we make it a great experience for our fans.

On recent coin flip and impact Jets-Giants disagreement will have on potential NY Super Bowl in 2014:
The direct answer to your question is no. I don’t think it will have any effect at all. I have to make decisions repeatedly and I am subject to criticism. And I understand that is part of the job. I think we came up with a great solution. It’s a win-win for both organizations and their fans. We really have moved on. I’m working on the rest of the schedule now.

What will it take to restart meetings between NFL and NFLPA?
Part of it is just logistics. They had their meetings in Hawaii last week and we are having our meeting in Orlando this week. In the next week or so the two sides will talk and my guess is it will be setting up some meetings shortly.

On Mike Holmgren:
Mike actually came to our last league meeting in Miami. Mike has always been very involved in the organization, whether he was with the Packers, the Seahawks and now the Cleveland Browns. He actually came into our office last week. He spent the day with one of his key executives going through our entire operation, what he needs to know and what are the various factors. Mike is very engaged and obviously understands the game and the business. I think Mike is going to be terrific.

Did Mr. Ross do a presentation this morning or will he? Is there a point at which all the things you give to fans distract them from watching the game?
Everyone is multitasking here. Kids are consuming three or four different media at once. That is the future. People are going to do that. We all now through technology and these various advancements are getting the chance to experience things we never experienced before in an immediate basis. We can’t ignore technology and we can’t ignore innovations. We have got to lead. That’s what the NFL is doing, leading, so that we are providing our fans that great experience. Specifically, Steve raised the Kangaroo product at the Business Ventures Committee earlier this month. He will be making a presentation to the full ownership tomorrow.

According to Woody Johnson, he had suggested having a coin flip and the league rejected it. Why ultimately did you decide to flip a coin with neither team present? People also told me you were angry at Woody’s statement Monday night. Can you respond?
I don’t know who is characterizing my reaction, but I did not have a reaction to it. As I said, I’m used to criticism. If you are not used to criticism, you better not be in this job. As it relates to how we solved it, we think we created a win-win solution for everybody. We offered both teams the same opportunity and it was clear the two clubs were not going to be able to resolve it on their own and frankly weren’t even agreeable to the process of resolving it. So it was my decision to make. It was my authority and I did so.

On Mark Murphy’s value to CEC:
Incredibly valuable. As you pointed out, Mark obviously had a great NFL career. He was actively involved with the NFLPA so he has seen it from the other side. He now is seeing it from the side of management. That perspective is incredibly valuable for our ownership and frankly I believe it will be for the players when the dialogue continues. He has been very effective in the meetings and negotiations. He is a smart guy who understands what needs to get done to create a system. He is also very reasonable. He’s fair and he wants what’s best for the game and the players, as we all do.

On NY Super Bowl in 2014:
I don’t have a vote and I can’t even take a position with the ownership. It’s the 32 clubs that make that decision. I think it was right for us and continues to be that it is one of the alternatives. I think it can be very attractive to the ownership and to the NFL in general. And I continue to believe that. They will be competing against Tampa Bay and Miami. But not at this meeting, at the next meeting. We will have very little discussion about that other than potentially an update on the process.

On StarCaps:
We just finished the trial. The judge is accepting documents and various papers. At some point he will be making a decision. Certainly we will abide by whatever decision he makes, but we are not going to preclude any alternative. This is something that is important to make sure we have a uniform, credible program. You cannot have that if you have certain states or certain players by different standards. That’s not just true in the NFL. That’s true in any sport. This is something that’s of great interest not only to the NFL but also other sports and frankly, I think anyone who has been supportive of having strong, credible drug programs. We’ll continue to pursue this and get an appropriate resolution.

On the chances of playing football in 2011:
The best thing I can say is we are still at a very early stage. Let’s allow the collective bargaining process to continue. We are in the first quarter here. We are in an uncapped system now and we’ll continue to negotiate. Hopefully we’ll all be able to figure out the right way to structure something so it works for everybody and we can reach a fair agreement for the players and the game.

On adjustments to offseason workouts:
You never rule it out, but we’re already in the offseason. OTAs will be beginning shortly and offseason training programs. We’ll continue to work on it and talk to the Madden committee, the Competition Committee and the players themselves about the kinds of changes that are necessary. I met with a number of players directly through the Tony Dungy committee and it’s been an issue that we’ve spent a great deal of time talking about. I think some changes should be made, but you want to look at it in the context of how we’re preparing our players to play and how do we make the game as safe as possible for all of our players.

Did you have expectations for an uncapped year?
I really didn’t have any expectations. It’s a new system. Whatever was going to happen was going to happen. Every club was going to make its own decisions and approach it differently. I think there’s been quite a bit of normalcy in the sense that people are getting ready now for the Draft. We have a great deep Draft coming up. For the first time I have heard a lot of personnel guys say that. It’s terrific. I think teams are going about preparing themselves for the 2010 season. I think every fan has the right to look forward to a great season again.

On restructuring the season to 17 or 18 regular season games:
It is one of the things we’ve discussed with the players and continue to discuss with the players. Again, it’s one of the ways we can continue to innovate and grow opportunities. It’s also focusing on something we talked about a little bit this morning, which is to improve the quality of what we’re doing. Particularly in the environment we are in right now, you need to continue to deliver value to the consumers and fans, whether you are in the football business or making any other kind of product. You want to make sure you have the highest quality product. One of our products is football. We have to make sure we are doing the best we can to produce the best football. I think we’ve done a pretty good job of it. But our job is not done. We think we can get better. And we’re going to get better. That includes looking at every aspect of our offseason, our regular season, and our postseason. One good example is the Pro Bowl. You cannot continue just to do things the way you did them. You’ve got to look and find new ways to innovate and new ways to improve what you are doing. I think the Pro Bowl was a good example of that. I think the RedZone was a great example of that. I think NFL Network is a great example of it. The NFL’s not going to stop. We are going to continue to lead in this area.

On three-day Draft:
It’s consistent with what I was just talking about - innovation. It is about finding new ways to expand upon what you are doing and to find new ways for fans to engage with football. We’ve seen the tremendous growth of the Draft and popularity over the last several years. We think this is another way to do that. By creating a primetime event and doing it over three days, we be able to allow more people to experience the Draft, not only in person but also on television, with both of our partners, the NFL Network and ESPN. It’s another step in trying to innovate and trying to create greater opportunities for people to engage with our game. We think it is going to be a nice change and a positive change with our fans.

On schedule:
Mr. (Howard) Katz (senior vice president of media) is hard at work in the next room working on that. We usually get the schedule out, and I presume it will be around the same time, in mid-April. Howard is making all those decisions.

On Rams sale and status of Stan Kroenke and potential to relax cross-ownership rules:
Let’s cross that bridge when we get to it. But I don’t think so. I think everyone understands we’re going to respect our policies and make sure we treat everyone the same. We have great respect for Stan and he has to make some choices. But he also understands the league wants to continue to have policies that we think are beneficial to the league in general and fair to all 32 clubs.

Was there actually a coin flip to determine who played the first game, Jets or Giants?
There was a coin flip. I did it myself so I know. We didn’t call heads or tails. We used the head of the coin for the Giants because it says “In God we trust.” So the “G” for Giants. It’s that simple. I think we came up with a great solution.

On lack of public funding and its impact on Dolphins hosting another Super Bowl:
We haven’t really focused on the bid process. They have until March 31 to complete that. I said this morning to our full ownership that the hospitality in South Florida was terrific this year. They did a terrific job with our new concept of the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl in the same city. It’s something we will continue to work with them on. We want to work with the communities because we want to continue to be in South Florida.
