Fox News Short Skirts: Johnny Dollar Misses The Point For My Skin

No sooner after I post a video detailing how Fox News uses sex to sell news, do I get someone who's so busy looking for something wrong they trip over themselves. Such is the case of blogger Johnny Dollar, who hilariously writes that the cable ratings I referred to were just for prime time and so my point about Fox News using sex doesn't matter.  HA!

This is one Dollar that took a dive.

The cable news ratings are daily -- got that Johnny -- daily. The data reads "same day" and that's what I was addressing. Now what does "daily" mean? Ah, morning, noon, and night.

Even though the data I quote refers to prime time, Fox News beats CNN the entire day and I argue for the same "sex based" reasons. Also, the point I was making is you can interchange the Fox anchor woman and the result is the same and has been for years. It does not matter that Linda Vester hasn't been with Fox News for a while; she was one example. In fact, that's why I used the term...former.

See, Dollar looked at me, saw that I was Black and making a video and had to find something wrong. Thus the reason he trips all over himself. I've seen it before. Such people.

Now, let's look at Fox Prime Time. Bill O'Reilly's the winner here, but hey, he's known for his overuse of young pretty blondes to work his news segments. So the process continues with the pretty women wearing low-cut blouses. See, Dollar didn't think about that, or perhaps he was so blinded by the need to "prove the Black guy wrong" that his I.Q. took a dive.  Sad.

I'm not the first to point to this process of Fox News using sex in it's production; Taylor Marsh did in 2007 and wrote:

Ratings rule and we know that the Fox channel is having a tough time these days. Their credibility is in tatters, particularly because of the way they've pimped the Iraq war. So the cheapest way to get viewers back is through gratuitous titillation. We've seen it through the wall to wall blondes and babes delivering the news, but the graphic video and interviews they air takes it to a whole new level.
Take Bill O'Reilly's sexual interview of Miss New Jersey. As a former Miss Missouri, I can tell you that this sort of interview would never have happened in a million years before Fox "News" and Bill O'Reilly. Is this a fantasy picture thing? Is it a negligee situation?

How about that, Dollar?  The sex play on Fox News goes on!  Now next time perhaps Dollar will be more balanced and fair?    I doubt it.

Oh, and for those who think I'm Gay and read Dollar's blog, get a life and a girlfriend.  Oh, and here's my video:

Fox News Hires Ex-AOL Head John Miller; Can He Make A Website?

What i don't get -- someone explain it to me -- is how some of these guys like now-former AOL head John Miller get to be the new CEO of Fox News Digital (a new title made for him) when Miller's never made a website! Plus, according to ValleyWag, they say he's, well, not really all that and a bag of chips.

See my point?

I can name lawyer after lawyer who was gotten to run a digital media corporation and none of them would be able to write the code for an anchor link to save their lives. Ands god forbid you ask him to code a basic webpage!

Why? How can a person like Miller claim to be an innovator in digital media if he doesn't know how to make the one thing that defines digital media: the website? Is it that the people who select these guys -- and they generally are men -- don't know the stuff and so select people who are like them: without a real Internet clue? If you don't understand how to make a website to make money for yourself, then you have no business in digital media. Period.

What's the deal here? Why the talent gap between people in charge and those who make the digital business go?

My charge is if the CEO can't make digital media, then the CEO does not know what to ask for to make their digital media business work better.

Tell me why I'm wrong.

Fox News' Female Short Skirts Get Ratings Over CNN

For the first time, according to Nielsen, CNN came in third place in cable news program ratings behind Fox and MSNBC. CNN had 1.14 million viewers in March, compared with 1.16 million for MSNBC and 2.3 million for Fox News. Some say the reason is Fox is conservative; it's really their focus on women anchors with short skirts.

So Fox could be liberal as heck and still have the same ratings if they had the same "sex sells" strategy. There have been a lot of Fox female anchors doing the showing of a lot of leg: E.D. Hill, Ainsley Earhardt , Linda Vester, Gretchen Carlson, and Catherine Herridge to name some of them.

That's a lot of women, and I'm sure I've left someone's name off the list without intention. The point is, it's too much of a habit to ignore, thus it's part of the high ratings, because it builds expectations that a viewer will see women in short skirts, especially in the morning.

Is this a bad thing? Well, yes and no. Look, we can't deny that above all else, television is a visual medium. It's not radio at all. So people react to what they see. Moreover, we're wired to reproduce -- people forget that -- so visual cues that appeal to our sexual nature will get more attention than those that don't.

That's a fact.

I can't blame Fox for this. But I can blame Fox for coupling it with some lame reporting. Much of it's so biased I don't watch it at all. I flip between CNN and MSNBC. And CNN has some attractive female anchors, but they don't present them like Fox does. If they did, I hate to write this, but CNN would overtake Fox for the ratings lead.

The question is will they do this?

Black Juan Williams On Fox News Seen as "Black Basher" By Many - AlterNet

More at AlterNet: “"… The matter is that, when Bill O'Reilly gets Juan Williams, the eternal happy Negro, on his show to congratulate him on his racism, that's like Hugh Hefner getting a stripper to come on the show and tell him that he's not a sexist.” --Syracuse University Professor”

-- And he does it for money, which means in his case we do not know how he feels, but that he can't be trusted.

Greta Van Susteren Goes Off On CNN Layoffs - Gretawire

Blood Bath at CNN ? No “heroes” in management there! « GretaWire: “They did it again! CNN fires people just in time for Christmas!  Make you sick?

People often ask why I left CNN…..I didn’t like management.  I liked my colleagues in the news gathering but the corporate culture that seized management when AOL came in (Steve Case and Gerry Levin) was disgusting.  Everything changed.  Don’t get me wrong - I like corporate organization and a corporation should make money - what I don’t like is a mean spirited selfish management that, despite not doing its job of efficiently running the company, lines it pockets.  And then the topper? because the management didn’t run the company well,  CNN fires loyal people to meet some bottom line the management failed to meet.  Blame the little guy not the way the company is run?  Go figure! Well….CNN management did not disappoint me yesterday…meaning, it met my low expectations.”

--- This is a crass move by CNN management. It's the timing. Why the holidays?

Fox News - Rahm Emanuel Gave Blagojevich List Of 'Acceptable' Senate Candidates: Report

Rahm Emanuel Gave Blagojevich List Of 'Acceptable' Senate Candidates: ReportHuff Post: “President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had direct conversations with Gov. Rod Blagojevich about Obama's replacement in the US Senate, FOX News Chicago reports.

Citing "a source familiar with the investigation," Fox says that Emanuel had "multiple conversations" with Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris, who was also arrested Tuesday on federal corruption charges, about the seat and that they we're "likely recorded and in FBI possession."

Fox's source said that Emanuel gave the governor's office a list of "candidates that would be acceptable to President-elect Barack Obama" but no "quid pro quo" or "dealmaking" is suspected.

Meanwhile, an angry Emanuel says he won't go to work because of the media stakeout. He told an ABC News cameraman that has received death threats:”

Media Matters - Hannity and Bennett excoriated Obama over views shared by prominent Republicans

Media Matters - Hannity and Bennett excoriated Obama over views shared by prominent Republicans: “Summary: Sean Hannity falsely asserted that President-elect Barack Obama "talked about in the campaign cutting tens of millions of dollars in defense spending" when, in fact, Obama said he would cut "tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending." Hannity also asserted that Obama said "[h]e's not gonna weaponize space, slow development of Future Combat Systems" and that he would "set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons" without noting that former Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain and other prominent GOP figures have advocated similar positions.”

-- I'm not a Sean Hannity fan at all.

Alan Colmes Leaves Hannity & Colmes For Liberal Pastures

Realizing I think that liberalism is back and "in" and "green", Alan Colmes of Hannity & Colmes on Fox News, is leaving at the end of the year .  He's already got a blog up called "Liberland" under the URL http://www.alan.com -- I'm not kidding.

Mark Halperin Thinks Election Coverage Was Pro-Obama? That's Nuts

I just read on Politico.com's Forum page that Mark Halperin's wining and moaning that the media was "in the tank" or "pro" Obama.

That's nuts.

For two years with "Obama Rapid Response" I've worked to counter Fox News coverage, the Washington Posts line of dirty "Why did you run this and keep bringing up Rev. Wright" articles, and a constant slew of "Obama is Muslim" crap that even the Associated Press played into.

All of that, and more, and Halperin thinks the media was "pro-Obama".

That's just plain false. I'll write more on this soon. But there's your warning.

Ralph Nader Calls President-Elect Obama an "Uncle Tom" And Will Not Appologize

Well, whatever respect I had for Ralph Nader, and it was still considerable at a factor of 6 out of 10, was just reduced to 4 out of 10. This is because the Independent candidate for President, who got trounced by Senator Barack Obama last night, got on a Houston radio station and referred to Ralph Nader as an "Uncle Tom", which is a historically insulting term claiming that a Black person is White in some way and is intended to say that person's "not Black." Then Nader repeated the racist action on "Studio B with Shepard Smith". Here's the video:

I don't know why Nader's decided to be so racist so late in life, but such statements as that one and his earlier assertion that Obama "talks White " point to a major stereotype Nader holds about African Americans and would seem to "color" any good deed he wants to do in the future.

SARAH PALIN STILL DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE VP DOES!!!

Man, enough is enough.  I applaud the Draft Palin movement for their work, but a little more vetting was in order.  She's got the VP role wrong , yet again.  On Fox News, which gave her a pass because it doesn't want a smart Black President Obama over a not so with it White President or VP (or maybe they don't know themselves), she said this :

"Well, they've got to be exclusively, of course, concentrating on the administrative side of governance and there again, that's where my executive experience will be put to good use."
NO.  Sarah, why not admit that you are not well-informed.  But on second thought, since Election Day is one day off, keep talking!  This is great!!  OBAMA 08!

More Props to Nas

About a week ago, we gave Props to Nas for a song on his new album called "Black President." There's another song on there that you should check out, "Sly Fox." Here are sample lyrics:

Watch what you're watching
Fox keeps feeding us toxins
Stop sleeping
Start thinking outside of the box
And unplugged from the Matrix stopped you
But watch what you say, Fox Fire is watching

Only fox that I loved was the red one
Only black man that Fox love is
in jail or a dead one

Can you guess at which major TV news network that song is aimed? The song drew the attention of ColorofChange.org, which has its own campaign to get Fox to stop using "racist smears" (think terrorist fist jab and Michelle Obama as baby mama, for example). ColorofChange.org contacted Nas and they joined forces against Fox, most recently protesting outside Fox News HQ in Manhattan. We think this is a great partnership. For more details on the rally at Fox, see Fox News On-Air Racism Challenged by Huge Petition Drive and Hot Rapper Nas.

Tony Snow - Former Bush Press Secretary Passes Of Colon Cancer

Tony Snow, former White House / Bush Administration Press Secretary, passed away at the young age of 53 after his battle with Colon Cancer.

He will be missed. I always enjoyed his perspective and his reasoned approach. He seemed like a very good person.

Fox News' Fred Barnes Baffoonery: "Who Reads Bloggers?" He Asks.

Fox News Fred Barnes' has a knack for trying to be so conservative and score points with the Bush Adminstration, that he makes dumb statements more often than not, by far.

Barnes -- on today's Fox News Panel With Britt Hume -- famously observed, in response to how some liberal browsers were attacking Obama on his support of the reformed FISA Act, said "Who Reads Bloggers?"

Well, in the sprit of that civic dis, we have "The Fred Barnes Watch" -- coming soon.

Demand Fox stop race baiting and fear mongering

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but head over to colorofchange.org and sign this petition: Demand Fox stop race baiting and fear mongering . Here are the details:

After Senator Obama won the Democratic nomination, he and his wife gave each other a "pound" in front of the cameras—a Fox anchor called it a "terrorist fist jab." Then last week, a Fox News on-screen graphic referred to Michelle Obama as "Obama's baby mama"—an attempt to associate the Obamas with racist stereotypes.

Tell Fox News chief Roger Ailes to stop racism before it hits the airwaves, and make it clear that you'll take action when another racist smear happens.

Overt Racism and Sexism at Fox News

Want to be amazed at just how overtly racist and sexist Fox News can be? Go to Daily Kos and check out this post: Fox Smears Michelle Obama with Sexist/Racist Slur. You'll get the breakdown and the screenshot, which I won't reproduce here out of respect for their having it first. What I will do is share the caption they showed, with Michelle Malkin hosting, under Michelle Obama on screen:

"Outraged Liberals: Stop Picking On Obama's Baby Mama!"

Are you kidding me? Even for Fox Noise, this is dipping way deep into the racist and sexist pit. If you're as offended as I, write to Fox (yourcomments@foxnews.com) and to the FCC to register your disgust.

CNN Clobbers Fox, Beats MSNBC On Obama's Speech

According to Mediabistro, CNN's decision to carry Senator Barack Obama's historic speech live caused it to beat all networks, cable and broadcast, for June 3rd, outpacing ABC, the other network that had Obama's speech live, 4.3 million viewers to 4 million for ABC.

In reading this, CNN beats all other news channels in the 25 to 54 demographic and overall for June 3, election night. But CNN beats Fox on every night, even when there's no election coverage. Whie Fox News Channel may have a victory in one time slow or another, it's just that -- one slot at one time. CNN has a larger audience, and it's thought to be due to the fact that CNN is more of a "news ticker" channel whereas Fox is personality driven. CNN commands higher ad rates and is believed to be the "snob" channel.

As for Fox News, it really is competitive with -- drumroll -- no one. According to fair.org, Fox News's most popular show, The O'Reily Factor, draws four times fewer viewers than the CBS Evening News, which is considered to be a ratings disaster. If that's the case, then Bill O'Reilly's the Titanic. It's why they resort to the upskirt tactics and other "Jump the Shark" programming. MSNBC falls late night -- in my view -- because of that stupid prison-programming where they seem obsessed with showing the inside of a prison. It's depressing and channel-turning -- away from MSNBC. Their power is in news, but they don't seem to know that.

CNN Ads "Upskirt" To Gerri Willis, Morning News; Real Short Skirt On

Remember how I've been writing that CNN would get higher ratings for its "day" programs if it had Campbell Brown wear short skirts and show legs as she did on NBC? Well, someone at CNN's reading my blog, because as of today, CNN has anchor Gerri Willis sitting in a high chair and sporting a real short skirt. Then CNN's producers make totally sure you see it. Day upskirt action for ratings.

What does this say about CNN? Well, it shows that CNN's as ratings aware as I believed, and have decided to turn away from the journalistic strategy it has known for decades and mix in sex. Gerri's blonde and looks for all the World like a Fox News star.

Also, CNN's pushing Senator Clinton -- which I think is unethical as they should tell viewers of their bias rather than show it -- and it seems trying to appeal to a "Whiter" audience, which I think is a total error. The problem is that Gerri sounds a little, well, less than smart which impacts credibility. That's not a good thing.

I'm not writing that she's not smart because I think there are different ways to be intelligent, but it's as if someone told her "project a smiling, sexy, bubby look" and she's doing that.

Uh, you mean like Fox?

Yep.

FOX LIES ON PASTOR WRIGHT and BARACK OBAMA

This is the actual sermon that The Rev. Pastor Jeremiah Wright gave regarding the trajedy of September 11th 2001. This sermon is not cut as the other one that was. Listen carefully because what he's explaining is that a White American Ambassador was the person who explained that America was paying the price for its foreign policy.
