In the race for Alaska Senate, Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich is ahead of embattled Republican Senator Ted Stevens by 814 votes according to Begich's website . If that lead holds or expands, Begich wins the Alaska Senate race, giving Democrats 58 seats versus 41 Republican seats -- two shy of a filibuster-proof majority.

Woman Yells "N-Word" On Obama, Sarah Palin Says Nothing
Ok. This is not right. Sarah Palin, who's known for stopping in the middle of a rally to take on a heckler, didn't do so this time, and let a woman in the crowd who yelled the "N-word" when Palin referenced Barack Obama go on without a verbal correction of the heckler. Does that mean she agrees?
At least the Alaska Gov. could have said "Now, you know, that's not allowed here! Barack Obama is a true Patriot that we disagree with."

Is Sarah Palin Stabbing John McCain In The Back?
After much study, I've come to the conclusion, which I present in this video:
..that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is stabbing Senator John McCain in the back. Often, Palin has approved of views that were taken by Senator Barack Obama, causing McCain to rein her in with a press statement that makes the campaign look like a keystone cops routine.
Consider how Palin has went against McCain in these following examples.
1) Pakistan - Palin favored the Obama-Biden assertion of going into that country to "get" a known terrorist even if that government would not cooperate.
2) Bankruptcy - Palin favors the Obama-Biden approach of allowing the homeowner to be protected against losing their dwelling after filing for Bankruptcy.
3) Korea - Palin agrees with the current action of the U.S. dropping Korea from the state terrorist list, even as McCain opposes this. Obama also backs the Bush Administration action.
4) Palin Administration - Governor Palin has referred to the McCain - Palin ticket as the Palin - McCain Administration.
The evidence for my assertion rests in Palin's past. In the way she treated Alaska GOP boss Randy Ruedrich when both were on the powerful Alaska Oil and Gas Commission. While both Palin and Ruedrich received campaign assistance and in Palin's case had ties with Evergreen Resources, which was seeking a drilling contract and needed the commission's approval, Palin implicated Ruedrich, causing him to resign from the commission. But the act elevated her status and some contend that it powered her successful run for Alaska Governor.

Brigitte Bardot: Gov. Sarah Palin Is "A Disgrace For Women"
French movie star bombshell Brigette Bardot lowered the PR boom on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The screen legend said that Palin..
was a disgrace to women.
"I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world," Bardot wrote in an open letter to Republican John McCain's running mate in the November vote.
"By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe," wrote Bardot.

Palin Displaying Racism and Disrespect For Senator Obama
Governor Palin needs to really examine her heart these days leading to the election -- if she can find it. This is what she said today according to Politico:
“Barack Obama hasn’t told the American people the total truth about that, about his association with Ayers,” Palin said on conservative radio host Laura Ingraham’s show. “Doggonit, he fails to tell the American people with candor and with truthfulness what his associations are and we have to know.”
Palin blamed the media for not providing what she characterized as the same level of scrutiny to Obama that it has applied to her and running mate John McCain.
“I don't see the other ticket being asked to be truthful and give details,” Palin said.
“Some in the mainstream media are saying that, well, we’re taking the gloves off unfairly. No. You know there are only, what, 26 days to go. We gotta start getting answers to these questions that are paramount here so that voters have a choice in front of them that is based on truthfulness and candor. They deserve it.”
The Alaska governor told Ingraham’s listeners that if those questions were being answered, voters would find Obama “out of the mainstream,” adding that the Illinois senator would diminish “the prestige of the United States presidency.”

Thomas Muthee Prays Over Sarah Palin - Economics, Witches, and Isreal
This is the controversial video making the rounds and really casting light on the idea of the separation of church and state -- which does not seem to exist with Governor Palin. Draw your own conclusions but while I'm a powerful believer of God, I'm also very scared that only one perspective of him is presented and used to control Governments and people.
I'm going to research this in more depth.

Sarah Palin Attacks Barack Obama For Associating With Ayers; Opens Door to Her Own Anti-American Past
Today, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin let go and tossed an accusation and an insult at Presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama when Palin accused Obama of associating with Bill Ayers, the former member of the Weather Underground.
As those who regularly read this space know, the Ayers matter is a red-herring. But in attacking Obama, Palin opened the door to her own Anti-American behavior.
There's a new video going around that details Palin's involvement in a group that wanted to cause Alaska to quit America.
That organization, according to the blog "Left of Hudson" was so extreme that.
Here's the video:

McCain Staffers Take Over Alaska Governor's Office - WTF?
I'm not making this up. Staffer's of Senator John McCain for President -- I think; it's not his Senate staff is it? That would be illegal, but someone check that -- have taken over Governor Palin's Alaska office. I've never heard of anything like that before. I can't think of a VP candidate that has been so protected against gaffes and errors and yet makes them anyway.
Read this editorial by the Alaska Anchorage Daily News:
Read this editorial by the Alaska Anchorage Daily News:
McCain-Palin campaign spokesman Ed O'Callaghan announced that Todd Palin will not comply with a subpoena to testify about his role in troopergate, the Legislature's investigation into whether Palin abused her power in forcing out former public safety commissioner Walt Monegan.
O'Callaghan also announced that Alaska's governor is "unlikely" to cooperate with the investigation by the Alaska Legislature about questionable conduct by Alaska's chief executive.
Monday, he and campaign sidekick Meg Stapleton stood before Alaskans and defended the official personnel decision by Alaska's governor to fire Alaska's public safety commissioner. ABC News reported that Gov. Palin's official press secretary, Bill McAllister, paid by the state of Alaska, didn't even know the McCain staffers were meeting the press to defend his boss.
Is the McCain campaign telling Alaskans that Alaska's governor can't handle her own defense in front of her own Alaska constituents?
Way back when, before John McCain chose Palin as his vice presidential running mate, Palin promised to cooperate with the investigation.
Now she won't utter a peep about it to Alaskans. Nor will her husband, Todd, who definitely needs to explain his role in Troopergate.
Instead, Alaskans have to sit back and listen to John McCain's campaign operatives handling inquiries about what Alaska's governor did while governing Alaska.
Residents of any state would be offended to see their governor cede such a fundamental, day-to-day governmental responsibility to a partisan politician from another state. It's especially offensive to Alaskans.

McCain/Palin - Unstable and Unable
That slogan "McCain/Palin - Unstable and Unable" came from this sign at the Anchorage, Alaska rally of women against Sarah Palin as Vice President; an event that drew over 1,400 people.
Anti-Palin Rally Draws 1,483 in Alaska - USA Today
As the nation learns more about Palin and how she is like George Bush, more people chant for Barack Obama as the real agent of change. Alaska Women lead the charge at this rally:
ANCHORAGE (AP) — 1,483 people protesting the policies of Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lined a busy street on Saturday, waving signs and chanting "Obama!"
The protest came about two hours after Palin delivered a rousing speech at Anchorage's new convention center before leaving the state to return to the campaign trail. Palin was named John McCain's running mate on Aug. 29. This was her first return since then to her home state.
The protesters, including supporters of presidential candidate Barack Obama and those who don't agree with Palin's positions on abortion, polar bears, Iraq and other issues, lined one side of the street near Anchorage's main library building.
A much smaller number of mostly pro-Palin supporters were on the other side of the street, chanting "Sarah! Sarah!"
Police were at the scene, but there were no immediate reports of clashes.
Angie Doroff, 46, helped organize the rally. The wildlife biologist, yoga teacher and artist said she was pleased and surprised at how many people showed up.
"We're not alone. A lot of people are worried about the nomination of Sarah Palin," Doroff said, as cars drove by honking their horns in support.
Barbara Norton, a 56-year-old midwife, stood near a sign that read, "Alaskan Women for Choice."
"I think America does not understand how absolutely extreme her positions are — even to the right of George Bush and John McCain," Norton said. "She is frightening."

Sarah Palin Worked To Ban Books, According to Time, Other Sources
There is much buzz about how Alaska Governor Sarah Palin attempted to ban books from a library while she was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. While there's disagreement on which books were targeted, led by conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, there seems to be no question that Governor Palin did indeed work to block books as reported in TIME Magazine:
OpEdNews has more to add, also pointing to Palin's call for a gag-order on city staff:
And writing of The Frontiersman, I happened by that paper to read the coverage of Palin. I found a letter from a Palmer Councilman that made no sense at all and since he's a politician "under" Palin, who's governor, I discounted it. But then I saw this letter by a simple Alaska resident, Suzanne McCausland, also of Palmer, Alaska:
The bottom line here is that Palin is clearly conservative and opportunistic. Nothing wrong with ambition, but such a hunger always leaves a trail of angry people. It's only a short matter of time before more of them come out against Palin. The question is what did she do to gain the positions she obtained? That's not clear. Who was her mentor? Who backed her? When and Why? More questions than answers.
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor. This has become so widespread, there is a blog called "Librarians Against Palin".
OpEdNews has more to add, also pointing to Palin's call for a gag-order on city staff:
In 1996, Palin first ran for the Office of Mayor of Wasilla. According to articles in the Alaskan newspaper, The Frontiersman, Mayor Palin asked the director of the town's free public library if she "could live with censorship of library books." Palin was not specific about which books, what topics or passages would be questionable in nature.
Rindi White reports in today's edition of the Anchorage Daily News that in December of 1996, "Emmons told her hometown newspaper, the Frontiersman, that Palin three times asked her -- starting before she was sworn in -- about possibly removing objectionable books from the library if the need arose." White goes on to further state that "Emmons told the Frontiersman she flatly refused to consider any kind of censorship."
In response to the firing of Emmons, the well respected former Wasilla mayor, John Stein, told local newspapers that Palin felt some voters thought the library held inappropriate books and "asked the library how she could go about banning books," Stein further stated the head librarian, Emmons, was "aghast" at Palin's question.
"The librarian, who resisted mayoral censorship, was fired shortly after Palin took office." [CBS News]
Several of the conversations between Palin and Emmons took place within a new and very radical political environment for the small town of Wasilla, one wherein Palin, during her very first days in office, asserted her newfound authority by instituting a mandate requiring all department heads obtain her direct permission before talking with any reporter on any subject at any time.
"She put a gag order on those people, something that you'd expect to find in the big city, not here." [The Frontiersman]
John McCain is pandering. By selecting an inexperienced person, he is disrespectful for the office of the President of the United States. He is acting in a vindictive and unpatriotic way. Is he senile?
Someday maybe Sarah will be qualified, but right now she is just too inexperienced to be a heartbeat away from the presidency of our country. Our country is in trouble. We have to act like adults, not for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren.
We have saddled them with a huge national debt, we have lost our jobs overseas, and now our very Constitution is being eroded along with our freedoms. Anyone remember that we are in a war based on a lie?
It is time to take our country back.
Shame on you, John McCain.
Suzanne McCausland
Palmer
The bottom line here is that Palin is clearly conservative and opportunistic. Nothing wrong with ambition, but such a hunger always leaves a trail of angry people. It's only a short matter of time before more of them come out against Palin. The question is what did she do to gain the positions she obtained? That's not clear. Who was her mentor? Who backed her? Sarah Palin's Other Side - A Hero To Young Alaska Girls and Women
Lost in all of the partisan arguments in this election is any real look at who the candidates are, unless we push for it.
While I don't believe Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's the best candidate and certainly not with any Senate experience, my soft spot for kids and for the advancement of women compelled me to find this side of Governor Palin: that of a hero and role model to thousands of young girls and women in Alaska, as this photo group will show.
Again, she's not the best candidate and I feel she should go back to Alaska and serve a full term as Governor, but I have to give her credit for how she impacts these girls you see in photos.

Kevin On YouTube Video Claims To Be Bristol Palin's Daughter's Father
I just happened on a video that, if true -- and I stress if true -- could be very damaging to the crediblity of Alaska Governor and now Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin.
In the video, Kevin sits down on a couch and says that he met Bristol Palin because his uncle worked on the pipeline and got to know Bristol for "the couple of months I was there" and that they conceived a child while he was there. He says she's a nice young lady and that he wants to be a part of the child's life.
Kevin, who's Black and an Obama supporter, also reports that the parents -- Governor Palin and her husband -- have said that they do not want him near their daughter or associated with her. Kevin says, again on video, that he wants to be a part of the child's life. He also says that he does not want to play the "race card" but that the family may have some problem with the public knowing that Palin's daughter had a Black boyfriend.
(Frankly, no one cares about that.)
I sent a message for Kevin to call me to get to the bottom of this.
Watch the video. He certainly seems like he's serious and he explains that he's a musician, gives his contact at his MySpace page, and I'm sure is aware of what could happen to him if he's caught lying, so he must be telling the truth otherwise, why stick his neck out? At first, I thought it was a way for him to promote his songs, but that would be stupid. And given the affinity young teenage white girls have for Black rappers, it's well within possibility they could have hooked up.
The first order of business is to determine if his uncle really works up there. If that's the case, then there's smoke. And where there's smoke, there's fire.
Here's the video. You decide:

Gov. Sarah Palin Will Resign Or The GOP Is Toast
On Friday, Governor Sarah Palin was the selection of Senator John McCain to be his running mate as the presumptive Republican Vice Presidential Nominee. Already we have problems.
1) TrooperGate, where Gov Palin is accused of using her position to fire a state trouper, who's still on the job as of this writing.
2) The news that Palin was part of a group that wanted Alaska to leave the Union.
3) Palin was fundraising director for Senator Ted Stevens' 527 committee.
4) Palin was almost recalled as Mayor of Wasalia, Alaska.
5) She says the Iraq War, costing over 80,000 iraqi lives and several thousand American lives is a war for oil -- she's right, but Republican, so she should not say that.
6) She took earmarks totalling over $197 million, while saying she did not.
Why Palin? Senator McCain could have picked from five Republican female senators, but failed to do so. Why?
More questions than answers. It's my prediction that Palin will be forced to resign as this steady stream of negative information continues to come in.

Sarah Palin's Family Should Not Be Blogger's Focus
I have a simple standing rule that I will write about what the candidate does, but not what the elected officials family does. What the family says is different, but even then the only words that matter are what the person says about the candidate's performance or actions. John Edwards is a great example.
I wrote about his actions of infidelity and how it was unfair to his wife. But the focus was John Edwards, and no one else to start.
Thus, I take issue with the look at what Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's family does. They're not running for office; she is. I do hope this frenetic pace of attention her family's getting passes quickly so we can go back to looking at Sarah Palin herself.
If you keep looking at her family, you will not know Palin's not ready for her 3 AM phone call.

John McCain Checks Out Sarah Palin's Butt In First Speech Friday - Video
Ok. Now, I've seen everything, and I mean everything. Here's the jedreport with the video to end all videos in this political season -- at least so far -- and shows Senator John McCain taking glances as the butt of Governor Sarah Palin as he's listening to her speak. If you think I'm kidding, look at this photo:
Are you kidding me? The video shows this over and over again, and not the same one. But several times. It looks like Senator McCain's about to burst with excitement. At some points in the video, McCain's fingering his wedding finger as if to remind himself he's married.
And so we see the real reason he picked Governor Palin: sex. He's only met her once and from all of the Internet buzz about her problems and beyond the Trouper-Gate Scandal, it seems McCain's staff either did their homework and McCain ignored them or they did little home work at all.
But look at this jedreport video for yourself:

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska In Mini-Skirt
Cementing the perception that Alaska Governor and now Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin is a hottie, we have this photo of her in a mini-skirt. It's not real; as it turns out, it's photoshopped.
UPDATE: Sarah Palin in a swimsuit shows legs.
UPDATE: COMMENT ON PALIN SPEECH
But with this, comes another perception: as one who's not ready to be Vice President, let alone President of the United States.
For example I present this article that was posted on the "Writers for Obama" web listserv. I don't know who the person is, no one does, but it's worth reading:
From a Classmate...the word on the GOP VP Candidate.
[I'd feel better publishing this if I knew the author's name, and could
verify it, but assuming this is not ghostwritten, it is very telling and
very insightful....This came from the most interesting Yahoo! group, Secular
Humanist, from the Moderator, Greg Dempsey]
Dear classmates -
As an Alaskan, I am writing to give all of you some information on Sarah
Palin, Senator McCain's choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I know more than
most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that he picked her.
The most accurate description of her is red neck. Her husband works in the
oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and races snow mobiles. She is a life time member
of the NRA and has worked tirelessly to allow indiscriminatehunting of
wildlife in Alaska, particularly wolves and bears. She has spent millions of
Alaska state dollars on aerial hunting of these predators from helicopters
and airplanes, dollars that should have been spent, for example, on Alaska's
failing school system.
We have the lowest rate of high school graduation in the country. Not all of
you may think
aerial predator hu nting is so bad, but how anyone (other than Alaska wolf-
haters, of which there are many, most without teeth), could think this use
of funds is appropriate is beyond me. If you want to know moreabout the
aerial hunting travesty, let me know and I will send somelinks to
informative web sites.
She has been a strong supporter of increased use of fossil fuels, yet the
McCain campaign has the nerve to say she has "green" policies. The only
thing green about Sarah Palin is her lack of experience. She hasconsistently
supported drilling in ANWR, use of coal-burning power plants (as I write
this, a new coal plant is being built in her home town of Wasilla), strip
mining, and almost anything else that will unnecessarily exploit the
diminishing resources of Alaska and destroy
its environment.
Prior to her one year as governor of Alaska, she was mayor of Wasilla, a
small red neck town outside Anchorage. The average maximum education level of
parents of junior high school kids in Wasilla is 10th grade.
Unfortunately, I have to go to Wasilla every week to get groceries and other
supplies, so I have continual contact with the people who put Palin in
office in the first place. I know what I'm talking about. These people don't
have a concept of the world around them or of the serious issues facing the
US. Furthermore, they don't care. So long as they can go out and hunt their
moose every fall, kill wolves and bears and drive their snow mobiles and
ATVs through every corner of the wilderness,
they're happy. I wish I were exaggerating.
Sarah Palin is currently involved in a political corruption scandal. She
fired an individual in law enforcement here because she didn't like how he
treated one of her relatives during a divorce. The man's performanceand
ability weren't considered; it was a totally personal firing and is
currently under investigation. While the issue isn't close to the scandal of
Ted Steven's corruption, it shows that Palin isn't "squeaky clean" and
causes me to think there may be more issues that could come
to light. Clearly McCain doesn't care.
When you line Palin up with Biden, the comparison would be laughable ifit
weren't so serious. Sarah Palin knows nothing of economics (admittedly a
weak area for McCain), or of international affairs, knows nothing of
national government, Social Security, unemployment, health care systems -
you name it. The idea of her meeting with heads of foreign governments
around the world truly frightens me.
In an increasingly dangerous world, with the economy in shambles in the US,
Sarah Palin is uniquely UNqualified to be vice president. John McCain is not
a young man.
Should something happen to him such that the vice president had to step in,
it would destroy our country and possibly the world to have someone as
inexperienced and inappropriate as Sarah Palin.
The choice of Palin is a cheap shot by McCain to try to get Hillary
supporters to vote for him. When McCain introduced her today, Palin had the
nerve to compare herself with Hillary and Geraldine
Ferraro. Sarah Palin, you are no Hillary Clinton.
To those of you who, like me, supported Hillary and were upset that she did
not get the nomination, please don't think that Sarah Palin is a worthy
substitute.
If you supported Hillary, regardless of what you think the media and the
democratic party may have done to undermine her campaign, the person to
support now is Obama, not Sarah Palin.
To those of you who are independent or undecided, don't let the choice of
Palin sway you in favor of McCain. Choosing her shows how unqualified McCain
is to be president. To those of you who are conservative, I guess you have
no choice for president.
But please try to see how the poor choice of Palin tells us a great deal
about McCain's judgment.
While the political posturing inherent in the choice of Palin is obvious,
the more serious issue is the fact that the VP is, literally, a heartbeat
away.
I have to disagree with the perception of Governor Palin as "redneck" as she's said nothing but good things about Senator Obama and his Energy Policy Proposal.

have a concept of the world around them or of the serious issues facing the

Gov. Sarah Palin: "What Does A VP Do"?
On the show "Kudlow and Company" Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, during an interview with Larry Kudlow, asked what the VP did on a daily basis. That was a terrible question to ask for someone who eventually placed herself in the position of being Senator John McCain's VP running mate. It points to a kind of "on the campaign trail" job that the McCain people are undoubtedly doing at this point in time.
That's not what the ideal VP candidate should entail. It makes me wonder if McCain's people, or McCain himself, ever saw this video or even looked at her from a standpoint of the possibility that she would come off as a real neophyte.
