Oakland Mayor's Race: Kaplan, Macleay, filing today; Quan, Perata Wednesday

Dr. Terrance Candell calls out other candidates

As of this writing, the latest news in the Oakland Mayor's Race has Oakland Councilmember and Oakland Mayor's Race Candidate Rebecca Kaplan filing her papers to run for the office as this is written, as has Greg Harland, Don Macleay, and Joe Tuman, and with Former State Senator Don Perata and Oakland Councilmember Jean Quan set to file their papers on Wednesday.

As of this writing, it's not confirmed if Orlando Johnson secured the necessary 100 signatures needed to complete his filing documents by Wednesday.  Larry Lionel Young, Jr., has also filed early, but has made himself a relative unknown save for a YouTube video of a house he's trying to sell and a handout at the last Oakland Mayor's Race Candidate's Forum.

Kaplan issues a statement

Kaplan, who this blogger interviewed last week, with two other videos from that to come, issued this statement today: "Oakland is ready for a new direction and effective leadership. I believe that Oakland can be an engine of economic revitalization, bringing jobs and opportunities back to our City."

Terrance Candell gets tough

Why most of the candidates waited until Tuesday and Wednesday to file their papers is still rests in a concern to get the documents properly prepared, but Dr. Terrance Candell didn't mince words about the fact that he was first: "(It) shows me that the person who files first is the first to care. It shows me that there's going to be a lackadaisical attitude of the other candidates."

Speaking for Don Perata, Rhys Williams explained that the Perata campaign wanted to take a little more time to get things right.  Don Macleay, without knowing what the Perata campaign said, made a similar statement to me today.

As of this writing, none of the other candidates were available to respond to Candell's bold claim. It's clear Dr. Candell's thrown down the gauntlet for what's already an interesting Oakland Mayor's Race, made all the more so today.

Ted Stevens: Former Alaska Senator plane crash death confirmed

Senator Stevens
Sadly, Senator Ted Stevens' death in the crash of an airplane owned by GCI, which provides telecommunications services to Alaska, was confirmed by CNN and The Washington Post.

Previously, the first source of news that the former Senator had passed away, then claimed they were "not sure," as the three crash survivors were not identified.

The plane, a small eight-passenger single engine prop aircraft, crashed 20 miles away from Dillingham, Alaska. The passengers included Senator Stevens and former NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe, said to be Ted Stevens' fishing buddy.

Ted Stevens was a giant in politics, who survived a nasty legal battle and at 86 was still helping other elected officials. He will be missed.

More on Ted Stevens in this space, soon.

Mike Bloomberg a trial or a Naomi Campbell walk away?

Is the mayor King Mike Bloomberg going to pull a Naomi Campbell "double" meaning a major temper tantrum coming soon to a news reporter near Mike and even worse a trial?  Why do I ask?  Well first king Mike has been taking a beating in the press every day from his comments on the FDNY test to the Mosque by the WTC site which is as much an open wound in the heart of so many and literally still way behind in construction.

Here is just a small excerpt from the Mike Bloomberg Mosque speech...Mike Bloomberg said...
“Our doors are open to everyone. Everyone with a dream and a willingness to work hard and play by the rules. New York City was built by immigrants, and it's sustained by immigrants -- by people from more than 100 different countries speaking more than 200 different languages and professing every faith. And whether your parents were born here or you came here yesterday, you are a New Yorker."

But more than half of New Yorkers want Mike to put a sock in his mouth.  Many believe in political freedom and open doors but the WTC is an open wound not near healing...body parts recently found and they want to know where the funding comes from where is a fair question.  Mike disagrees but many of us want to know about Mike Bloomberg's Cayman Island investments and he says that is off limits too.  I believe in religious freedom but I have to ask why would any religious group seek to cause so much pain which is what these Mosque builders are doing.  If you want to heal there are ways to go about healing and building bridges and clearly the Mosque at this time is not the way.

Getting back to my question -- Mike Bloomberg on trial?  Is this is his future and even if so will Teflon Mike be able to make like a super model and simply walk away?  What inspired this question?

Read on -- Below was posted on my blog

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcpAoSSTEwM   Was it some moron or a paid troll by Mike Bloomberg's corrupt staff harassing me this afternoon on my YouTube slamming Joyce Purnick.

The troll thinks I am jealous of Joyce Purnick and Mike Bloomberg.  No, they are part of an exclusive corrupt club bent on keeping the truth from being told.   His comment reminded me that if there is a trial down the road where Mike Bloomberg finally has to spill the beans than perhaps Joyce Purnick will be forced to testify.  You read her phony piece of garbage posing as a bio on Mike Bloomberg she -- oops forgets to mention Steve Rattner was perhaps forced to step down from his job at The White House as Car Czar...he said and she wrote to spend more time with his family but we all believe because of the pay to play pension fund scandals that had splished splashed all the way to The White House so Steve Rattner had to go.

Is Mike Bloomberg considered "family" because Rattner spends an enormous amount of time with Bloomberg here in NYC and Bloomberg stands by his man even now despite Steve Rattner having to plead the 5th so many times that The NY Post listed him under their "Losers" list -- ouch!  But that won't hurt Steve as much as the SEC actually banning him.   Unlike Dave Patterson walking away when he should be preparing a defense for intimidating a victim of spousal abuse in to silence -- Rattner may not be able to walk away and...if he is banned than once again Mike Bloomberg is going to have to shift that darn 5 billion he uses for charity or to buy votes and favor -- as 3 million was exposed by The New York Times the other day.

So let us say because of conflicts of interest and Mike Bloomberg holding the purse strings to the DA's office -- that the trial had to moved -- kicked out and up to a higher court or Haggerty exposing something that even Bloomberg and friends like the other guys Steve Rattner money manages that happen to own major newspapers can't cover up or silence or simply not report -- than Bloomberg may no longer be Teflon Mike anymore....

It would be so wonderful to see Purnick forced to testify in court -- did she know that Rattner was being investigated and if so why did she not mention that in her puff piece posing as a book and her good pals, Mike's good pal and Steve Rattner best friend Arthur Sulzberger Jr./The New York Times helped plug Joyce's book -- that did point out one very important piece of evidence if their ever is a trial -- STEVE RATTNER URGED MIKE BLOOMBERG to run for a third term!

I am angry and disgusted -- I called it before anyone that the mayoral election may come with some big surprise and I was so right on - Bloomberg barely won and the media had to go off script and report the truth finally -- I was laughing watching them bumble it -- they were way ahead of themselves rushing to go to Bloomberg's campaign head quarters to celebrate and oops they had to go off script and finally report the truth and what I had reporting on YouTube all along!!!!!!

Watch this YouTube and look at the date -- way before the election and the media refused to cover my art work -- the work I did postering communities --

I tell you -- do not believe the story the press are telling you -- the people of New York are incredibly angry....watch and that is one of many YouTubes I made!  By the way all my YouTubes 334 at the time were all removed from YouTube a month and half before the election.  My theory -- a paid troll hired by Bloomberg to harass and cyber stalk the anti-Bloomberg resistance on YouTube and the internet was also responsible for my hard work being removed....my entire body of work.

Look at the title of My YouTube - I called it predicted it and to date have gotten zero acknowledgement for this and my brilliant art poster lampooning Bloomberg.  Jealous of an elite club of corrupt people that played dirty no way.... just very angry!

House of Mike Bloomberg is a tumbling down...Steve Rattner pleads the 5th amendment over and over

I could see Mike being tried for campaign irregularities and also for abusing - misuse of tax payers money.  So far Teflon Mike has the luck of super model Naomi Campbell.

Is Haggerty the E. Howard Hunt of the Bloomberg Operation? Frank Morano wants the Board of Elections to investigate the Indy Party.

Trial?  What trial am I talking about?  Well Mike on trial but first the question is is Mike Bloomberg's campaign irregularities so far exposed by the John Haggerty indictment going to turn out to be Mike Bloomberg's Watergate and if so I could see mayor Mike going to trial because of campaign irregularities as well as way too many daily exposes on how he is abusing tax payer money.  He is not alone but he is the richest man in New York and the mayor so it looks really, really bad.  Christine Quinn, Mike's mini me,  has hired top defense attorneys for herself and her staff even approving Sullivan & Cromwell for some of her staff, a firm Goldman Sachs uses and tax payers have to pay for these top defense attorneys.  No wonder city council and their staff have been so successful avoiding prosecution although Miguel Martinez to date is the only "honest" one -- honest enough to say he was stealing from the get go.

For more reasons Mike Bloomberg needs a court day along with his top deputies and aides...

Ted Stevens: Former Alaska Senator May Have Died in Plane Crash

Senator Ted Stevens

Former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens may have died in a plane crash about 20 miles north of Dillingham, Alaska. He was on board a small plane reportedly owned by a firm called GCI, which is Alaska's telecommunications provider, according to The New York Times.

Also on board was former NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe, said to be a "fishing buddy" of Senator Stevens. In all five people are said to have passed away in the crash.

Ted Stevens is a Legend in Politics

This is one of those moments when you put down party affiliation to take time and celebrate the great works of a legend in politics. Senator Stevens served the public of Alaska for 6 decades, which is 60 years for those who don't know what a decade is.

Over that time, Stevens worked with both sides of the aisle of Congress to get large economic development deals done for his great state of Alaska. Most notable of them was the giant Trans-Atlantic Pipeline, where he pushed the Senate to pass the Trans-Atlantic Pipeline Authorization Act, which led to its construction.

But Stevens was also concerned about protecting Alaska wilderness, and pushed for the passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.

For his work, Stevens was called the "Alaskan of The 20th Century."

UPDATE: as of this writing, the Anchorage Daily News reports that the source claiming that Ted Stevens was killed now "isn't sure" as of 10:30 AM PDT. There are three survivors, but no one knows who they are as of this writing.

Stay tuned.

Jetblue flight attendant Steve Slater goes AWOL, jumps off plane

JetBlue Airways logo Category:Airline logos

Steve Slater, a flight attendant with Jetblue Airlines, went a little off on a flight 1052 arriving from Pittsburgh to New York's JFK Airport, and after an argument with a passenger over a piece of overhead luggage that fell on that person's head, got on the PA system of the plane, told all of the passengers what to do with themselves, launched the exit chute of the Boeing 757, and jumped out of the plane.

To add insult to injury, Steve Slater reportedly took some beer from the aircraft galley with him. Slater, who lives just 15 minutes from JFK, was supposedly just trying to get home and away from whatever stress caused him to just go off. Here's the news video:

George Garwood, one of Steve Slater's neighbors, thinks the event is funny, but this space does not.

Air travelers rely on flight attendants to be calm, cool, and collected because if there's an emergency, passengers have to turn to them for proper instructions. Steve Slater's actions means he doesn't at all take seriously the fact that he's responsible for hundreds of lives as much as the pilots are.

Throw the book at him, but also at JetBlue for causing whatever work conditions led to Steve Slater's going off.

More on this coming.

Teen Choice Awards 2010: Gossip Girl, Zachary Levi, Selena Gomez winners

BURBANK, CA - MAY 30: Actress Selena Gomez fr...Image by Getty Images via @daylife
Selena Gomez
The talk about Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, and Levi Johnston aside, the Teen Choice Awards 2010 presented a list of winners selected by an online voting system.

In that, the Teen Choice Awards 2010 winners list is a kind of flavor test taste of pop culture. That means television shows like Glee and Gossip Girl and stars like Zachary Levi of NBC's Chuck, and Selena Gomez of Wizards of Waverly Place, are who and what we're watching today. They are among this year's winners.

Zachary Levi of Chuck, won the TV Star Action award, beating out Jeffrey Donovan of Burn Notice, LL Cool J of NCIS: Los Angeles, Kiefer Sutherland of 24, and Mark Valley of Human Target. Chuck has been on a roll, coming off a hit presentation at Comic Con 2010, and an incredible and growing fan base.

Gossip Girl, which won for the Drama category, continues to be a critically acclaimed show that, after shaky ratings, appears to have found its footing due to a loyal fan base.

Selena Gomez is tired of "being good" according to Hollyscoop.com. But that's only part of the story, as she won for Choice TV Actress, Comedy at the Teen Choice Awards 2010. Now, tasting success, the Disney princess wants to be more like Miley Cyrus. Look out for the pole dance number.

You can check out the full list of Teen Choice Awards 2010 winners here.

Naomi Campbell jail time for perjury? by Suzannah B. Troy

I wrote in my first posting on this topic that Naomi Campbell dug herself in to a deep hole and a reminder she is not in NYC anymore but apparently the Hague is more than likely to let her walk rather than take responsibility, business as usual.   Naomi will likely walk back  to the cat walk rather than serve time.   After being forced to testify and allegedly perjuring her self she went to an exclusive decadent party in Italy.  I would not trade places with her for 10 billion dollars.

According to The New York Post the powers that be  trying Charles Taylor for crimes against humanity have bigger fish to fry.

Mia Farrow and Naomi's ex-agent both have testified that Naomi has perjured herself.   Charles Taylor's defense attorney's went on the attack trying to discredit Naomi's ex-agent, one of a long list of people that have lived to regret working for Campbell but perjury by a  super model doesn't hold a candle to orchestrating mass murder, torture and gang rapes.

Rewind to NYC where Naomi Campbell had to do some community service and an embarrassing photo surfaced of an NYPD officer carrying her bag for her.

If she was a "real person" she could go to jail for perjury but she is "not real".  Naomi Campbell apparently is like an endangered animal some how she is protected;  super models do not go to jail.

Again the global community owes this super model a great debt of thanks for perjuring herself and accepting Blood Diamonds from a ex-dictator, Charles Taylor  accused of using Blood Diamonds to fund murderous wars that included rape, torture and mass murder.   Poor Naomi pleaded ignorance and let her world audience know that she gets presents like this delivered to her all the time.

She excitedly bragged about getting diamonds from Taylor and also let anyone who would listen know that she was disappointed in the blood diamonds -- dirty -- not by having funded atrocities but for their lack of luster and size.

To read more please go to my original posting.  If you are too busy than read this link that will take you to a powerful brilliant report by NPR with interviews that will give you a view in to Charles Taylor's atrocious both in Liberia and Sierra Leone.    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10694264

You will learn about one ray of light in the NPR interview -- Liberia now has a woman president.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is the first woman president for Liberia and for all of Africa.

Can someone please explain why Nelson Mandela even invited Taylor a monstrous dictator to a function of his in the first place.   Read my original post to see photographs, video tape and more information on Taylor accused of funding terrorist group Al-Qadea.

Naomi Campbell is living proof ignorance is bliss and super models do not go to jail but what will she do when her beauty fades unlike diamonds, super models have a short shelf life and this latest Naomi bad exposure is not a pretty picture.

Her celebrity has brought attention to an alleged dictator accused of heinous crimes against humanity so well done Naomi even gross stupidity and vanity have their good points when you are super model.

Teen Choice Awards: Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, Levi Johnston

YouTube, Yahoo, Metacafe, Blip.tv, StupidVideos and Viddler

The Teen Choice Awards is the center of pop culture in America and the World. It doesn't matter how old you are, some of the stars we watch and who were at The Teen Choice Awards are older.

LL Cool J's in his 40s as are people like P Diddy, and of course the incomparable Betty White, who's 88 years old.

Age is just a number, but the number of hot women was so high it made this blogger's ears pop.

Where else can you see Kim Kardashian tell Megan Fox that Fox is more beautiful than she is! And who let Sarah Palin's almost son-in-law Levi Johnston into the Teen Choice Awards?

How random is that?

Megan Fox!
The Teen Choice Awards is a celebration that seems to have made the Twilight: New Moon cast stars before they knew what hit them. Taylor Lautner, who's now called "Taylor Hotner" on Twitter, picked up his third straight award this year.

The one thing missing was a Miley Cyrus song or dance number. We've got so much publicist from her machine, it seems the Teen Choice Awards is missing something without Miley Cyrus.

Oh, and her pole dance number!

Lastly, a big congrats to YouTube Partner Michael Buckley of The What The Buck Show for co-hosting the live stream of the Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet Show!

Sarah Palin soundly attacked on Twitter

In the wake of her classic diss of Karen Gustafson, the Alaska Teacher who got after Governor Palin for quitting her job as the top politco in the state, Sarah Palin has been getting skewered on Twitter on Monday night.

If its not Palin's teacher diss, it's her ex-son-in-law to be Levi Johnston annoucing he's going to run for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. And if it's not those two news items, it's for Sarah Palin just being, well, Sarah Palin.

Wow. Take a look at some of the tweets found just via a search for "Sarah Palin."

Film Critic Roger Ebert calls the Palin Teacher Diss Video a "defining moment:"

ebertchicago - A Sarah Palin Defining Moment. Note the personality change when she realizes a video really is being made. http://j.mp/bOX3VV

Others have less intelligent, but totally funny takes:

OTOOLEFAN - So, Sarah Palin laughs at teachers? I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

And so it goes. The vast majority of tweets are not favorable to Palin here, and Palin's got to be concerned about her public persona in the wake of this video, not to mention all of the other small self-inflicted Palin wounds of 2010 that seem to be adding up and not in a good way.

Palin's starting to look like someone who enjoys the limelight, but doesn't shine in it. That wasn't true when she was Governor and makes me think Karen Gustafson was right.

Sarah Palin teacher diss starts war on Palin's Facebook page

Former Governor Sarah Palin's apparent diss of Alaska Teacher Karen Gustafson's profession of teacher, has stirred emotions around America, and now where is this more true than Sarah Palin's own Facebook page.

But first, here's a video recap:

And a note, the woman next to Palin was her daughter Bristol Palin, and not an aide to Palin.

The apparent diss-Palin-says-wasn't-a-diss caused Palin to turn to her Facebook page to give a response, thus causing over 1,000 comments, and not all of them nice. Indeed, a debate's broken out over at cyber chez Palin. Here's a sample of the exchange:
Governor Palin, what's that frown?

Andy Shane OMG... Examine anything the GOP, Fox, Palin, Limbaugh, Beck write or say. They are all virtually incapable of using conventional names or nouns to describe anything or anyone that/who doesn't align with their views. Catch phrases designed to tell you how to think, eg "mainstream media," or Sarah's personal favorite "lamestream media" are Soviet-style elements of rhetoric NEVER absent from their speech. Plz, plz, plz wake up.

Billy Black Okay two things.

I wrote something very ambivalent earlier, but it was a comment critical of Sarah. In response my comment was deleted within ten minutes and I was banned from Sarah's profile.

It's great that Sarah supports the first amendment so much that her "people" remove any small criticism of her.

I also FULLY expect this comment to be deleted very shortly. And to whoever who deletes it, all I can say is "lol"

And second, @Peggy,

"Do you ever see conservatives call people names and use this kind of language?"

Seriously? Earlier someone referred to liberals as libturds. Liberals are consistently referred to as Nazis (although so are Conservatives, it sincerely makes no sense).

The hatred is incredibly prevalent on both sides. Conservatives use terrible language against liberals, just like liberals use terrible language against conservatives. So you just cannot say either side is innocent, EVER.

DeAnn Irby Um, Billy... it's a FB page. You usually have "friends" on your FB page. If she doesn't' want your tripe on her page, she can delete it. What is your problem? Don't you have any real friends? This is funny and sad at the same time. Maybe Steve Cotton will be your friend. He seems to be running a bit short as well.

Paulette Taylor After watching the video, I had to laugh! I think your "eyes rolling" & your eyebrows twitching may have had to do with the teacher not knowing where you go to represent America! It had nothing to do with her being a teacher! And she obviously doesn't know much about what ALL you did for AK as governor! Goooooo Sarah!

(What does Paulette know? She's in Atlanta!)

Joan Dailey Towles The downside of public life. An unplanned chance meeting on the street with a school teacher. Even Bristol looks flabergasted. Total stranger deranges you in front of your family. Expressions of personal opinion unsolicited and, your actions misconstrued. Mean and unfair. I laugh at the absurdity. Rhinoceros stuff. Unbelievable. Only in America.

Also, it's not as if Governor Palin has a totally thick skin; many posts were removed, well, the one's from liberals.

No, I didn't post anything.

Sarah Palin disses teachers; Michele Bachmann's tele-townhall

YouTube, Metacafe, DailyMotion and Blip.tv

Palin and Bachmann
Monday, August 9th 2010 will be known as the day the Sarah Palin eyeroll was seen 'round the World, and the day Congresswoman Michele Bachmann had a tele-townhall that, well, what was that, anyway? Whatever the case, folks, we have two Tea Party Activists totally off the mark, as if one can be on the mark in the Tea Party Movement.

First Sarah Palin

In Homer, Alaska to film a segment for her TLC television show, Governor Palin, opps, Former Governor Sarah Palin saw a sign that read "WORST GOVERNOR EVER," and, assuming that the protester was referring to her, Governor Palin walked over for a little chat.

Looks like Sarah Palin's frowning
The woman Sarah Palin talked to was an Alaskan Teacher by the name of Karen Gustafson, who said that Palin was the "WORST GOVERNOR EVER" because she quit the post of Governor of Alaska last year, June 26th 2009. A back-and-forth started, and Governor Palin asked Karen Gustafson what she did for a living. "I'm a teacher," she said, to which Palin and her aide just immediately looked at each other, and frowned and groaned at the same time. Then Palin rolled her eyes.

Sarah Palin can kiss her political aspirations goodbye.

Why Sarah Palin took that position is a wonder. You can't tell why from her Facebook page, where she posted this message:

Sarah Palin takes pity on Karen Gustafson
While filming the Alaska documentary in Homer, I had a brief discussion with a local lady who, in typical Alaska style, decided to give me her two cents worth about my political leanings, American politics in general, and much else besides. It’s what makes our politics so uniquely democratic: two people discussing the things they care about, even though they respectfully disagree about just about everything (you can watch a brief video of the encounter here).

The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.

One good thing to come out of this little episode, though, is that it helps to remind people once again that Alaska is a great state full of independent-minded people. I look forward to introducing you to some of them in the forthcoming documentary series on life in Alaska! The show will remind you to get outdoors, breathe in God’s creation, and taste the freedom!

- Sarah Palin

The problem that Palin doesn't get is people are upset because of her background, and then what she did. Regardless of words, video doesn't lie. Palin's expression was one of pity for the Alaska Teacher rather than pride. Palin still doesn't explain what she was really thinking, even on her Facebook page.

Was Michelle Bachmann thinking?

Michelle Bachmann took to the Internet to blast the "Tele-Townhall" meeting she was holding Monday night. This blogger visited Michelle Bachmann's website to get a look at what she was trying to do and saw just a giant sign up sheet, then thought because it told nothing, only a fool would blindly sign up for it.

Well, according to Congresswoman Bachmann there are a million fools out there who went to her "Tele-Townhall" meeting via phone. Ah, well, let's adjust that via Wonkette, which informs that Bachmann's people made calls to a million people, or a million were invited.

This blogger's knowledge of that online process bets the actual numbers for that deal were far less than the Congresswoman reported.

And Michelle Bachmann was doing this to show she's on the wrong side of a much needed and too small $26 billion stimulus package House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is touting and that really needs an extra zero behind it.

The new stimulus would help people keep their jobs, something Congresswoman Bachmann in no way really understands the need to do. If she did, the Tea Party Movement candidate would get beyond that level of non-think and become a cheerleader of government investment where it's need most to create jobs.
