NCAA Tournament: Cal clobbers Louisville, shocks President Obama

The University of California beat The Louisville Cardinals in an upset in the NCAA Tournament, 77 to 62. Cal clobbered Louisville, never once trailing in the contest played in Jacksonville. And in the process, had to shock President Barack Obama, who didn't even think twice in picking Louisville over Cal.

The win also slam-dunked the blog of New York Times College Basketball bloggger Pete Thamel, who last Monday questioned why Cal was even matched up against the Louisville Cardinals, and their supposedly superior bench.

Here's the CBS Sports video recap:

Louisville was supposed to be the more physical team, but Cal's Head Coach Mike Montgomery designed a game plan that never allowed Head Coach Rick Pitino's Terrence Jennings and Samardo Samuels to get going. Cal's Jerome Randle, Jorge Gutierrez, Theo Robertson, and Patrick Christopher, played to smother and outscore the Cardinals' big men.

But, as in any NCAA Tournament game, contests like this come down to a few moments. In this one there were two primary ones: Cal's Jerome Randle, hitting a long-distance three-pointer with just 3.7 seconds to end the first half, and the dual penalties of an intentional foul and a technical foul on Louisville's Pitino with just over 2 minutes to go. That second moment allowed Cal to increase its lead to 16 and salt the game away.

Now Cal plays top seed Duke this Sunday. Meanwhile, ESPN and the NY Times just can't believe what's happening to The Big East. Both Pac-10 teams Cal and the Washington Huskies, which beat Marquette the previous night, were not favored and made fun of by the East Coast press.

Who's laughing now? President Obama, pick Cal over Duke. Yes, we know about your long-time aide Reggie Love's love for Duke, but you're better off picking Cal.

GO BEARS!

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James split: Mistress' Nazi Swastika photos

This sandra bullock and jesse james split update is unfortunate for everyone involved.

TMZ.com reports today, Friday, that Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee, Jesse James' alleged mistress, had photos taken of her wearing what is a Nazi bikini complete with a Swastika arm band, causing many to wonder if she's a White Supremacist. Moreover, the photos were apparently presented to TMZ by Ms. McGee's ex-husband.

The photos were taken over a year ago. One of them has Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee licking a long knife (you can see this in the video) and the other posing with a long rifle of some kind. Did Jesse James know about this? What does Jesse James think of this? Moreover, what does Sandra Bullock think about this, after the split?

Is Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee a White Supremacist?

This must be particularly hard for Sandra Bullock, who has good friends of color and was introduced as the Best Actress Nominee at The Oscars by Repo Man star Forest Whitaker, a friend, one of the finest actors of the modern age, and an Oscar-winner who happens to be black.

For her part, the porn star Michelle Mcgee says through a source that she's not a Nazi in the TMZ michelle mcgee update. But both Michelle Mcgee's ex-husband and her MySpace page tell a different story. Her ex told In Touch that the "W" and "P" tatoos on her legs don't stand for "White Power" but "W---- P----y". How appropriate.

If that's the case, how does Michelle Mcgee explain the message from the person who's from the "Angry White Boy" website on her MySpace page?  Or how about the Angry White Boy modeling and her being called an "Angry White Girl?"

For her part, Michelle herself has not addressed this issue of the Nazi Photos or Angry-anything, but she has made tweets on Twitter @MichelleSinai that seem to give her view of the affair, referring to herself in the third-person (and the Twitter account is posted on the MySpace page, so it does belong to Michelle Mcgee):

I find it typical and pathetic that people are crucifying @MichelleSinai when she never promised anyone to be faithful. (via @avflox)

Michelle McGee seems more concerned about ice cream and not Sandra Bullock:

I really want some Ben and jerrys half baked ice cream.. Yummy!!

And of course, McGee has the expected porn-related tweet:

@CaptainAwessome The average titty weighs 3.3 lbs. Not sure about the average pussy, jump on a scale and call me back.

And Jesse James went for her over Sandra Bullock? This has nothing to do with an Oscar Curse, and everything to do with male fears of a powerful woman. I think Sean Young was right about Hollywood as she stated in my video at The Night of 100 Stars Oscar Party:

It's a man's World there in Hollywood, so much so that some husbands of actresses like Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet seemed threatened by them. But that's my view.

What's Bart Stupak's real agenda?

The Committee on Energy and Commerce of the U.S. House of Represenatives has prepared, for all 435 congressional districts, a district-level analysis of the impact of health care reform legislation. This analysis includes information on the impact of the legislation on families, small businesses, seniors in Medicare, health care providers, and the uninsured. Somebody in Michigan should forward the link to Representative Bart Stupak, just in case he doesn't know.

The bill caps annual out-of-pocket costs at $6,200 for individuals and $12,400 for families who purchase insurance through the exchange or who are insured by small businesses. It also eliminates annual and lifetime limits on all insurance coverage. These changes mean no family will have to face financial ruin because of high health care costs.

Take, for example, the highlights from the report on MI's First District, Represented by Republican Bart Stupak. In Rep. Stupak’s district, the health care reform bill will:
  • Improve coverage for 364,000 residents with health insurance.
  • Give tax credits and other assistance to up to 197,000 families and 17,900 small businesses to help them afford coverage.
  • Improve Medicare for 141,000 beneficiaries, including closing the donut hole.
  • Extend coverage to 44,000 uninsured residents.
  • Guarantee that 10,000 residents with pre-existing conditions can obtain coverage.
  • Protect 1,100 families from bankruptcy due to unaffordable health care costs.
  • Allow 50,000 young adults to obtain coverage on their parents’ insurance plans.
  • Provide millions of dollars in new funding for 41 community health centers.
  • Reduce the cost of uncompensated care for hospitals and other health care providers by $102 million annually.
Under the legislation, small businesses with 100 employees or less will be able to join the health insurance exchange, benefiting from group rates and a greater choice of insurers. There are 18,600 small businesses in Bart Stupak's district that could benefit from this provision.

Tax credits for truly small businesses:
Small businesses with 25 employees or less and average wages of less than $50,000 will qualify for tax credits of up to 50% of the costs of providing health insurance. There are up to 17,900 small businesses in the district that could qualify for these credits according to the committee report.

By that reckoning, it's bound to be good for the 1st CD in Michigan, but their Democratic Representative must have something else as a higher priority than the health and economy of his district.

Curious how other districts will fare? The full report is at: Benefits of Health Care Reform, District by District Impact, where the Committee notes the cost of health care reform under the legislation as currently formulated is:
"...fully paid for, in large part by eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and excessive profits for private insurers. The legislation will reduce the deficit by $130 billion over the next ten years, and by about $1.2 trillion over the second decade."

Sandra Bullock news: Jesse James apologizes to Sandra Bullock

The rapidly evolving story of Jesse James' alleged cheating on Academy Award-winning Actress Sandra Bullock with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee has new news: Jesse James apologized to Sandra Bullock via a statement issued at People.com:

The vast majority of the allegations reported are untrue and unfounded. Beyond that, I will not dignify these private matters with any further public comment.

There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me. It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way.

This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me.

When Mr. James reports "The vast majority of the allegations reported are untrue and unfounded" it opens a new set of question of which ones are not true?  The bottom line is did Jesse James have an affair with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee?   So far the arrows point to the "yes" sign, but as usual this is more complex than meets the eye.

Here's the video discussion:

Conan O'Brien tour's BIG announcement on Friday

The American Express / Conan O'Brien tour's publicist sent an email explaining that there would be a BIG (as it was described) announcement Friday morning and related to on Conan's Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television tour. The 30-city tour is scheduled to start April 12th in Eugene, Oregon and end June 14th in Atlanta, GA.

What's the news? Is it related to today's news that Fox has been applying pressure on affilates to pick up an anticipated new Conan O'Brien Show at between 11 and midnight?

According to TMZ.com, that's the case, but some of the affiliates feel they can make more money with reruns of The Office.

Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee's ex-photog calls Jesse James affair bogus

As the story of the Sandra Bullock split from her husband Jesse James over an alleged affair between James and Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee unfolds, Perez Hilton, the new star of Bad Girls Season 4 The Reunion on The Oxygen Network, revealed that one of Michelle Mcgee's ex photogs is calling the story bogus. The email sent to Perez Hilton reads as follows:

Michelle Bombshell told my wife's ex-boyfriend that I tried to hit on her and that "if she had known he had a wife……"

Same thing she said about Jesse. She is full of shit.

The trouble is the email has no direct evidence connected to the Sandra Bullock and Jesse James issue. Moreover, Jesse James isn't coming out and denying the story as of this writing. It seems Sandra Bullock knew of the affair before this week, and perhaps before The Oscars.

Meanwhile, Jesse James' dog Cinnabun is missing and according to TMZ.com it's times with Bullock's departure from the home she shared with Jesse James.

Bad Girls Club 4 - The Reunion with Perez Hilton like Jerry Springer

The Bad Girls Club Season 4 - The Reunion Show aired Wednesday night, and with Perez Hilton in the role of Jerry Springer. Not surprisingly, the ratings went through the roof, according to Perez Hilton. But what's The Bad Girls Club, anyway? The website reports the show concept in this way:

Bad Girls Club brings seven self-proclaimed "bad girls" together in a beautiful Los Angeles mansion, and drama reigns supreme. All the girls have a unique story, point of view and attitude -- as well as some kind of personal issue that makes them far from perfect. Will living together help them move forward and turn their lives around -- or will chaos rule?

But where do the show's producers find these women? It's either staged or they've got a serious over-caffenation problem. Asking Perez Hilton to be the host was a master stroke of genius on The Oxygen Network's part. Watching the video clip below is like stepping into a caged cat fight:

In the wake of the news that Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James have split and that Bullock has left the home she shared with James, pictures of the porn star in the middle named Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee are suddenly a hot search online.

While its no surprise this is the case, the tatoo-laden woman who calls herself "The Socal Bombshell" must hold the record for the most tatoos on a mistress in history. Michelle Mcgee's body is covered from top to bottom with tatoos, and is the polar opposite of Sandra Bullock. Bullock's clean, athletic, untatood body has been featured on the cover of glamour magazines; Michelle Mcgee's body is on her MySpace page.

Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee comes off as the ultimate bad girl. But even bad girls don't like to be lied to, and that's the reason for McGee's In Touch interview. Jesse James told her he was separated from Sandra Bullock.

McGee's receiving words of support on her MySpace page:

Thank you for the add from your newest friend and fan. Can't stop looking at you. If you ever get to DC / Baltimore, let's do a shoot.

Sandra Bullock marriage trouble shows Oscar speech in new light

The revelation that Sandra Bullock marriage is trouble and that she split from husband Jesse James brings her speech after winning the 2010 Oscar for Best Actress into new light. Wednesday night, In Touch revealed an interview reporting that Jesse James had cheated on the Best Actress winner for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side.

Apparently upset that she was told James and Bullock split by Jesse James, tatoo-laden porn star Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee (who calls herself "The Socal Bombshell" on her MySpace page) talked on the record with In Touch Magazine. The details of that content are here. Additionally, Mcgee refers to James as the "Vanilla Gorilla" for reasons one can probably guess.

Now, Sandra Bullock has reportedly moved out of the house she shares with Jesse James, according to People Magazine. Moreover, she moved out Monday of this week, indicating that she knew of the Jesse James affair before it hit the tabloids. Perhaps before she won The Oscar.

All of this causes one to look at Sandra Bullock's moving Oscar speech differently. Did Bullock already know about the affair at the time? Note that as she gets up to walk to the stage, Jesse James whispers something into Bullock's ear. Bullock and James do not kiss; instead she shoots a look at him, then gets up without hugging him.

Just a guess, but this blogger's feeling is something was up, even then; Bullock may have known but didn't want to believe it until In Touch came out with the Michelle "Bombshell" Mcgee interview. Still, in her speech, she did not mention Jesse James. Here's the full transcript of Bullock's speech, courtesy of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences:

Did I really earn this or did I just wear you all down? I would like to thank the Academy for allowing me in the last month to have the most incredible ride with rooms full of artists that I see tonight and that I've worked with before and I hope to work with in the future, who inspire me and blaze trails for us. Four of them that I've fallen deeply in love with I share this night with and I share this award with.

Gabby, I love you so much. You are exquisite. You are beyond words to me. Carey, your grace and your elegance and your beauty and your talent makes me sick. Helen, I feel like we are family through family and I don't have the words to express just what I think of you. And Meryl, you know what I think of you and you are such a good kisser.

I have so many people to thank for my good fortune in this lifetime and this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I know. To the family that allowed me to play them, the Tuohy family, I know they're in here and you'll probably hear her in a minute. Maybe not. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to... the family that made this film that gave me the opportunity to do something different. John Lee Hancock, Gil Netter, Alcon, Warner Bros., the actors, everyone who's shown me kindness when it wasn't fashionable, I thank you. To everyone who was mean to me when it wasn't... George Clooney threw me in a pool years ago. I'm still holding a grudge. But there's so many people to thank.

Not enough time, so I would like to thank what this film is about for me which are the moms that take care of the babies and the children no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked. I, in particular, failed to thank one. So... if I can take this moment to thank Helga B. for not letting me ride in cars with boys until I was 18 because she was right. I would've done what she said I was gonna do. For making me practice every day when I got home. Piano, ballet, whatever it is I wanted to be. She said to be an artist, you had to practice every day, and for reminding her daughters that there's no race, no religion, no class system, no color, nothing, no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else. We are all deserving of love. So, to that trailblazer, who allowed me to have that. And this. And this. I thank you so much for this opportunity that I share with these extraordinary women and my lover Meryl Streep. Thank you.

Sandra Bullock marriage trouble? Jesse James cheating?

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who just got off a massive high from her win as Best Actress for The Blind Side, is now being blindsided by awful news. Bullock's marriage is rumored to be in trouble. The Internet's abuzz with news of husband Jesse James cheating on Sandra Bullock.

The question from this space is "What's wrong with Jesse James? Sandra Bullock's one hot, successful, powerful Hollywood woman!"

According to US Magazine.com, Sandra Bullock missed attending the London premiere of The Blind Side because of news of the affair scandal. Bullock issued this statement:

"Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support The Blind Side has been deemed impossible at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support of the film."

According to RadarOnline.com, the alleged mistress is named Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, and is a porn star and a mother of two kids.

The media outlet that broke the story was In Touch Magazine. Reportedly, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee was sleeping with James while Bullock was filming The Blind Side, and under the impression Bullock and James were separated. She told In Touch "I would never have hooked up with him if I thought he was a married man He gave me the impression they were separated."

Yikes.

It's a sad way to follow-up what was the highest high point of Sandra Bullock's career. Let's hope she bounces back from this and in a big way.

Oakland Mayor's Race: Ron Dellums running; Rebecca Kaplan should not run

Oakand Mayor Ron Dellums
In the 2010 Oakland Mayor's Race, this news: Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums is running for reelection.

This blogger learned the news from a good friend who's been involved in Oakland political and nonprofit circles for over 3 decades. In the "funny who you see on the same plane flight" book, this person was on the same San Francisco to Chicago flight late Tuesday night. That's when the information that's been largely hidden from the public was shared.

"Dellums is going to give it a go and see what happens" the person said. Also Mayor Dellums had a fund-raiser over the weekend. The foundation for Ron Dellums' campaign for reelection as Mayor of Oakland has started.

While, as of this writing, I still don't think Dellums can win, the Mayor does have three things going for him. First, he's the incumbent and he's theoretically able to defend his record better than anyone else. Second, and perhaps this may be the first asset, he's the only African American candidate for Mayor of Oakland as of this writing. Third, reportedly some Oaklanders are looking at the other current choices for the Mayor's race - Councilmembers Jean Quan (District 4) and Rebecca Kaplan (At Large), Green Party candidate Don Macleay, and the legendary former State Senator Don Perata and are taking another look, a more positive one, at Mayor Dellums.

Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan
In that field, I don't think Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan should run for mayor at this time. The reason is that Rebecca, from this view, is not the elected official she can be. The basic problem is Councilmember Kaplan does not hold herself in such a way that one can look and say "That person can and should be mayor."

Insiders I've talked to observe that the only thing she's known for is passing "Oakland Mai Tai Day." Moreover, personally, Councilmember Kaplan has been prone to not see the side of those who disagree with her.

This is not something personally seen in the past by this blogger; but it did become starkly obvious at an event at Ozumo's Restaurant. We were talking about the Oakland Parking issue, when I observed that it seems Oakland's trying to balance its budget on the backs of its poor.

Rather than disagree in a way I was used to, which is calmly and intelligently, the Councilmember yelled at me at the top of her lungs that I was wrong, and fired off several choice words.

I maintained calm and listened to her massive, unexpected rant. Rebecca Kaplan's best asset is her Chief of Staff Andre Jones. He's a reasoned, intelligent, excellent representative of her office. The fear in this space is that if Kaplan runs for Mayor of Oakland and wins, she will act in a way that's not fitting for the office.  In my case, Rebecca did not apologize to me and still has not as of this writing.

I've held back on this for some time because I really have supported and do like Rebecca. But being in the office - achieving the objective for which she's long struggled to obtain - has changed her. When Rebecca Kaplan the candidate needed this blogger's support, she never acted that way. And while some may get a childish kick out of this, it's a sad day when such behavior is rewarded in an elected official.  I don't mind being disliked, but being disrespected is uncalled for.

While others have stories, I'll not repeat them. This is written with the objective of causing Councilmember Kaplan to be a better Oakland elected official. A person who can not only want to be mayor, but have everyone say she should be mayor. I get that she has a powerful base in the Oakland LGBT community and the time has come for a person from the LGBT community to be mayor, but that does not mean Rebecca is ready to be mayor.

A good mayoral candidate listens to people and wants to represent all of Oakland, not just a part of it. Rebecca can be that person, but 2010 is not the right time as she needs to grow.

Here's hoping she does.

Blockshopper enabling stalkers with home owner information website

Blockshopper.com, a place where one can go to obtain information on home sales, is enabling stalkers with its home owner information website.

A good friend  brought the site to this blogger's attention because when that person's name is searched on Google, their personal information on where they live comes up first.

The firm's service covers Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, South Florida, St. Louis, Washingon D.C., and several other cities.

It's scary.

But what's even worse is Blockshopper.com has a legion of people complaining about its practice of posting what it claims is public information on its website. Consumeraffairs.com has several pages devoted to Blockshopper.com's practice, and where the company claims that they have the right to do it. But what's more shocking is the St. Louis-based Blockshopper is not addressing the requests of those who complain that they don't want their information on the site.

What's more, Blockshopper's using its Twitter account to communicate housing transactions on its website. It's here: @blockshopper.

Individuals of small means have no way to make Blockshopper stop. One has to be the size of a company like Jones Day, which successfully sued Blockshopper based on a technicality. This is the description of the firm on the case information webpage:

Founded in 2006, BlockShopper.com is a start-up local online real estate news service covering Chicago, South Florida, Las Vegas, and St. Louis. Its reporting staff is made up of ex-print journalists who collect public real estate sales data, then use information in the public domain (e.g. company web sites) to write news stories about recent transactions. BlockShopper currently produces upwards of 1,000 stories per month and has produced more than 8,000 since its founding, many of which appear in print newspapers as part of content-sharing partnerships with companies like Tribune. Three of those stories, all on BlockShopper's Chicago web site, reported the real estate transactions of partners and associates from Jones Day, the large international law firm.

Jones Day sued BlockShopper.com on Aug. 12, 2008 in federal court in Illinois. The complaint alleges that Blockshopper.com infringed and diluted the firm's service mark and violated state trademark and unfair competition laws by using the word "Jones Day" when referring to the real estate transactions of Jones Day attorneys, linking to its site and using lawyers’ photos from its site. The firm contends that these activities creates the false impression that Jones Day is affiliated with or sponsors BlockShopper.com.

Jones Day was granted a temporary restraining order.

The problem is that while BlockShopper.com claims the information used is "public" it's not easily available via search without the company's website posting. So BlockShopper.com is for all practical purposes making public but not easily obtainable information truly public and easy to get from the perspective of ease of access.

This is a matter for the California Attorney General to wade into.

UPDATE: I received this note below from Blockhopper:

Hi Zennie-- Read your post this morning.

It includes two errors I'd like to call to your attention.

1- We weren't "successfully sued" by Jones Day. To the contrary, they
frivolously sued us and then begged us to let them drop the case after
suffering through several months of terrible publicity.

A renowned First Amendment lawyer took our case pro bono, and the
Electronic Frontier Foundation and Public Citizen, among other
pro-free speech groups, organized on our behalf against them.

Jones Day tried to bully us into treating its lawyers differently,
hiding their real estate sales information from the public. They
failed because we stood up to them.

2- Real estate transactions and owner/buyer/seller names are not
"quasi private" information.

They are public, collected and published by county governments for
purposes of guaranteeing title and (fairly) assessing taxes.

To be sure, hiding names of owners/buyers/sellers makes life easier
for mortgage fraudsters and politicians doling out favors, like the
Chicago Congressman caught paying $270 a year in property taxes on his
multi-million dollar home.

You obviously disagree, but we believe this information should be even
more public, not less. We understand there are trade-offs, but we
believe they are worth it.

Thanks for reading, glad to discuss further if you have any interest.
